wasn’t but…”
    “Good.”
She sounded relieved as she pulled me into one of the downstairs rooms. There
were several suitcases and bags packed.
    “Maggie
what is going on?” I asked watching her cautiously.
    “You
have to leave. It is too dangerous for you here. It seems like everyone has
their own agenda and I am not so sure we can trust anyone anymore,” she said
quickly as she gathered bags.
    “Maggie
I can’t just leave. Where will I go?” I was trying to reason with her, but she
seemed pretty determined.
    “You
are going with Damon. He will keep you and the babies safe,” she said quietly.
    I
looked at her horrified. She had to know I would protest. Damon was worse than
Brayden and Dominic combined. “You want me to go with Damon; Dominic’s
brother?” I knew my tone had gone from normal to high pitched and annoyed.
    She
nodded obviously disregarding my protest. “I trust Damon, he has no ulterior
motives as far as I can tell. Right now he is the best option.”
    “Maggie,
I don’t even know Damon and maybe staying with Micah…” I started but she cut me
off.
    “Micah
involved Elijah. As soon as Elijah realizes Micah is not going to follow
through he will come after you himself. Going with Damon is your only chance.
Damon know how to stay under the radar. Please don’t fight me on this. You came
to me for guidance, this is it. Go with Damon, wait until you hear from me.”
She was pleading with me like she was sure of what she was saying.
    I
sighed relenting. “Fine, I’ll go with Damon.”
    She
nodded. “He’s here, let’s go,” she ordered as she gathered the bags.
    I
was apprehensive, but I followed her out anyway. Damon smiled at me as we
approached his car. It was an older muscle car, and it was a little amusing
because it fit his personality. “So she agreed, that surprises me,” he said
amused.
    “She
trusts me and I trust you. You better not let me down boy,” Maggie chided as he
took the bags from her.
    He
grinned. “I would never let you down Mags. Come on princess, we need to hit the
road before all three of your boyfriends realize something is up.”
    I
looked at Maggie and she smiled at me. I could tell she was trying to encourage
me to leave, but she looked worried. “It will be fine. This will blow over then
you can come home.”
    I
nodded and hugged her. “I trust you. I know you are trying to help me,” I said
quietly.
    She
nodded and wiped a tear from her cheek. “Go, before it is too late,” she said
ushering me to the passenger side of Damon’s car. I got in the passenger seat
and Damon pulled away from Maggie’s house. As I watched her house disappear. I
hoped Maggie was right. I hoped Damon was a reliable as she seemed to think he
was.

    I
watched out the window as Damon drove. Neither of us had spoken since leaving
Maggie’s. It had been almost three hours and it was going by so slowly. I
wasn’t really in a talking mood. Even if I was I wasn’t really sure what to
say.
    “Still
mad at me?” he asked teasingly. It was the first time he had spoken and of
course he was going to start a problem.
    I
scowled. “For recommending I kill my kids, ya not very happy with you.”
    “First
off it was a suggestion not a recommendation,” he countered.
    “Please
do tell me the difference,” I said trying to keep the annoyance out of my tone.
I had a feeling he wanted to annoy me.
    He
grinned. “A suggestion is just an option. It does not mean I agree with said
option it just means it is available for consideration. A recommendation is a
suggestion I agree with. I was not recommending you see a witch. I was just
suggesting it because it was an option.”
    I
rolled my eyes. “Whatever, just know that I am watching you and if you do
anything funny; I will find out.”
    “You
can watch me all you like,” he said and winked at me.
    I
rolled my eyes. “You are ridiculous,” I muttered and looked back out the
window.
    “Are
you hungry because I am stopping
