nods his head.
“What time will you stop by?”
“Around seven”
“Great, we’ll see you then”
His phone rings so I take the opportunity to leave. I quickly make my way through the building that my Dad brought, it’s a five storey building in the middle of London, memories flash through my head of the times he was here with us… I manage to make it out of the building without being stopped by a single person and quickly flag down a taxi which manages to get me home in less than ten minutes.
I enter the building and walk to the desk “Hello, Miss Camilla”
“Hello Nigel, are you well?” I ask
“Yes, thank you and yourself?”
“Yes I’m fine, did you see that Marlene will be taking over my apartment for a while?”
“Yes Miss, I did”
“Ok anything she needs or wants just send me the bill and I’ll deal with it”
“I will do Miss, off somewhere nice?”
“Let’s hope so” I wave to him as I walk away.
I arrive at my apartment and I’m instantly confronted by the boxes everywhere, I didn’t tell James that I have no intention of coming back but I’m sure he gets the point. When I first moved in here with Edward I was so happy, we had just started making plans for our wedding, then that night happened. He had gone to look at wedding venues since I was too busy at work he took my Mum and Dad, they had taken Dad’s helicopter, there was a sudden change in the weather whilst they were up in the air. The first James and I knew of it was when it flashed up on our TV screens at work. To say I was devastated was an understatement, losing three of the most important people in my life in one night was something that I never would have imagined that I would have to go through. Of course I threw myself into work and therapy, it’s taken me two years to get where I am now. Not that I’m sure where that is yet, I suppose I have finally gathered the strength to move on. I don’t want love but I have reached an age where I just want a baby, ok I wanted one before but was ok to wait until after the wedding, not now though, it’s all I can think about... I guess you always want what you know you can’t have.
I find my phone from my bag and come across the cheque, shit I should put that straight into the bank. First I ring Gerrard and ask him to stop by in an hour so I can figure out what to do with it before he comes over. Then I ring Will everybody apart from my brother calls him Will, I think they had a bit of a thing, it’s always the elephant in the room, neither of them would dare talk about it ever since Will came out when he was twenty and my brother found a wife. Will has even found a house for me to rent until I figure out if it’s where I want to live permanently.
He answers on the second ring “Hey Doll”
“Hi Will, you sound out of breath. Are you ok?”
“Yeah Doll I’m fine. You stopped me mid pump, what can I do for you?”
“Fucking hell, really Will?!”
“Yeah, its ok don’t worry, he can wait”
“WILL! stop it. Anyway I will be there this evening. Is the house ready?”
“Cool, yeah it’s all ready for you Doll”
“Ok see you later, oh and next time can you finish what you’ve started before you answer your phone?”
“Ok Doll, whatever you say”
“Do you even know his name?”
“Yep… well no not really”
“See you later”
Will is such a slut, completely the opposite of me, Edward was my one and only. I throw a couple more things in boxes, the removal people will be here in an hour. I have a massive pile of clothes to go to the charity shop, I don’t intend on ever putting on another suit in my life.
I quickly change into a pair of tatty jeans and a t shirt and put the case and the few bags I need to take tonight by the door, I ring Marlene and ask if she will come and oversee the movers, she of course agrees.
An hour later, Gerrard has been and taken the cheque and Nigel has loaded the bags into my car, I just have to say bye to
