muffling her sounds so that no one else heard her.
He didn’t let her go until she was shaking in his arms, and desperate for more. She didn’t want this to end.
With Darla’s screams in the background, Knuckles pressed Beth up against the wall so no one saw her.
“I meant what I said, this distance and shit, it ends now.”
    “What about Daisy?”
“You just came all over my fingers. Whatever your brother has got to throw at me, let him. I’m not going to back down. I want you, Beth. You want me. Stop denying this shit.”
    Biting her lip, she nodded.
“I’ll be around tomorrow night. Be ready at seven.”
“What happens at seven?” she asked.
“I make you mine.” He walked away, and Beth was shocked. She didn’t know what to do or to say.
The man had just given her the best, and only orgasm of her life, and now he was walking away. Another man was fucking Darla, and Beth had lost all interest. She had come tonight to enjoy the party, but also to see Knuckles. There was no point lying to herself. He was the reason she found herself coming back.
“What are you doing here, little sis?” Daisy asked, coming to stand in front of her.
“Nothing. Where’s Maria, and my niece?” she asked, changing the subject. Please don’t ask. Please don’t ask.
“She’s upstairs waiting for me, and my daughter is with Mary and Pike. What are you doing here?”
“I came to enjoy the party.”
    “Beth…”
“Don’t, Daisy. I can enjoy the party.”
“It wasn’t long ago that you were scared to come out of the room you were staying in.”
“I’ve changed.” She was much better. Having her own space, a job, a life, she felt safe, especially with her brother and his club near. Right now, she wasn’t liking Daisy all that much. He was turning into a bit of an asshole. “Why are you all bruised?”
“Got into a fight. Stay away from Knuckles, Beth, I mean it.”
“Stay away from Maria!” She folded her arms. “Oh, that’s right, you didn’t. You took what you wanted.”
“What the fuck has gotten into you?” he asked.
“Don’t tell me what to do. I didn’t tell you.”
“This is what this is about? You think you’ve got what it takes to win Knuckles?”
“Daisy, I love you. You’re my big brother, but I didn’t think you had what it took to be with Maria. I never for a second thought you were capable of really loving her the way she wanted.” She shrugged. “I was wrong. If Knuckles is what I want, then you can’t try to take charge.”
“You think you want Knuckles? You don’t even know him. He’d eat you up, and spit you back out.”
Beth smiled. She moved toward her brother and gave him a hug. “You don’t know me.”

Chapter Two

Knuckles wiped down the body of the car that he’d just put back together. It was a piece of shit car, decades old, but the owner, Rusty Frank, loved it. He always made sure Rusty Frank was looked after. The old man had been part of Vale Valley since its bloody inception, or at least with the way he talked he had. Pushing ninety, Frank was always quick to tell them what they were doing wrong. At last count, Frank had over twenty grandkids, and even some great-grandkids.
“You’re still working on Rusty’s car?” Duke asked, coming out of the office.
    “Can’t help myself.”
“You know it’s a bag of shit, and there’s a lot more interesting cars that could do with your attention?” Duke folded his arms, leaning against the car.
“Everyone always wants to work on a new car. Rarely anyone can appreciate the old classics, or bags of shit. What can I say? I like the bags of shit that no one wants, or thinks can’t be fixed.” He was starting to think that Duke was here for another reason.
    “Daisy’s looking for you.”
“Ah, so he’s a little pissed at me for chasing after his sister?” Knuckles wiped his hands on the cloth he had, annoyed with his fellow brother. Duke was just doing what a Prez was supposed to do,
