while I am not here. There won't be a cost for that at all if you are okay with that. "So, you wouldn't want anything else at all from me. Is that what you are saying?" "Pretty much... I can have something drafted up if you like and we can both sign to it." Of course I would want more but I was just did not have the heart to do it like that. I understood why she was not so focused last night. “Max, why are you doing all of this?” “Well, I think that you are a nice person and I would just like to help you. You have expressed that you do not like what you are doing so this is a way out of that, no strings attached. I hope you don’t have a problem with that.” “Okay, I really do appreciate what you are doing. Not many people would do that for someone. If I can ask another favor; I would need some help getting my things here after the blizzard blows off.” We finished breakfast and she helped me to clean up and wash up. The blizzard had calmed down some so I was able to show her the self contained unit. “Well, here is your new place. I had it fully furnished a few years ago. You are free to use whatever is in here. You will have internet access as well.” “So who was here before? What happened?” “Oh I had family staying here. My brother in law was here. He and my sister had a big falling out but they have resolved their issues and he is back at home now. All’s well that ends well right.” “Oh, that was nice of you.” “Well, I wouldn’t want him out on the street. You have really come here at the right time. I was in the process of trying to find a house sitter; one that wouldn’t run off with everything while I was away. My cat likes you too and that says a lot for you as she is extremely picky.” The weather was much better in the afternoon and we were able to go and get her stuff. I was surprised to find out that she had been holed up in a seedy motel. It was home to people who were having problems finding work like her and some undesirables. She only had a suitcase to fetch. I wondered what had really happened to her.
A FRESH START The weekend passed without much incident. She was settled in the apartment and all was well. I called my sister on Monday morning and spoke to her about the position. I let her know that I had someone who seemed quite qualified to get the job done. She agreed to meet with her. I gave Fiona the address and told her how to get to the office. She headed off and I sat and compiled a list. I went to the supermarket and stocked up on food, for my pets and for her. When I got back home I packed the things away. I spent the day working on my computer. I saw when she was back and heading to her apartment. She came and knocked on the door and then came in when I beckoned to her. “Oh my goodness, I got the job. I must thank you for that. They are extremely nice and I will get health benefits and everything and they were not bothered by the fact that I was pregnant.” “Well, that is fantastic! I know that Tamara has been trying to find a suitable replacement for a while. I thought you were the perfect fit based on how you answered my questions. Are you hungry? I was just going to get dinner started.” “Sure, I would love some. You are a very good cook you know. That meal the other night was fantastic. What are you going to make?” “Well, it’s nothing fancy. I have some meat balls in the fridge. I was going to prepare that with some potatoes and a fresh salad.” “That sounds absolutely perfect. I will go and change into something more comfortable.” She left and I logged off and went to the kitchen. It had been a good day all around. I got the meatballs reheated and sorted out the potatoes. While that was cooking I prepared the salad. She came back in when I was taking out the potatoes. She was dressed in a pair of sweats. She had clearly had a shower and she had her hair up in one again. She was wearing lip gloss. Such a different
