Thoughts of my
parents keep me awake. What did I do? I left them without a warning. They must
be worried sick. I can be so selfish. No, this was a mistake. First thing in
the morning I will explain to him and I’m sure he will let me go. This is the
last thought I remember before delving into a world of darkness.

Chapter 3
    I wake up
feeling the morning breeze caressing my body. The next thing I know is that I
can’t move my hands or legs. I’m tied to a tree opposite the hut. The sun has
just risen at the edge of the lake and the birds are singing cheerfully.
    What is going
on? Who tied me? I try to move my arms but I can only pick them up lightly. And
my ankles are tied with a rope that goes behind the tree, leaving my legs
spread wide open.
    Conor comes out
from the hut. Oh, thank goodness.
    “Conor!” I shout,
“I thought you left! What is going on? How did I end up being tied up?”
    “I tied you,” he
says with a serenity that makes me tremble.
    “You?” I ask
bewildered. “How could you tie me up?”
    “Like this,” he
says and walks towards me. As he approaches me, he miraculously turns into a
man. A man! How did he turn into a man?
    He stands in
front of me totally naked. I have never seen a naked man before. Well, apart
from naked statues, but they don’t count.
    He is in his
early thirties from what I can figure out. His hair is black like the wolf’s
fur was and his eyes possess a deep brown shade. He may not be a wolf anymore
but his eyes belong to a predator, that’s for sure. Even though he was black as
a wolf, his skin is slightly darker than my pale white body. I look at him in
the eyes. I dare not look any lower. He is a rather attractive man. So
different though from all the men that were in my party yesterday. He owns a
rugged beauty as opposed to the gentle features of the men I know.
    “How did you…?
What are you?” I ask. My voice has become so high – pitched I can hardly
recognize it.
    “I told you that
you are in an enchanted forest and that anything can happen.”
    “So what? You
can change into a wolf again?”
    “Anytime I
want.”
    This is bad.
Really bad.
    “No one lives in
the hut. It’s yours,” I mumble.
    “Exactly,” he
says coming closer to me.
    “How did you tie
me? Why didn’t I wake up?”
    “You were
sleeping deeply. You were probably really tired from our walk last night.”
    He raises his
hand and caresses my cheek.
    “No!” I scream.
“Don’t touch me! What do you want from me?”
    “What do I want
from you? What do you want from me? You told me you were looking for
something. You accepted to come with me and not deny me anything. Did you
forget what you promised me so quickly?”
    “Please let me
go. I beg you. My parents must be out of their minds. They will be looking for
me. Please…” Tears flood my eyes.
    He grabs my neck,
with his thumb still caressing my cheek.
    “Calista, you
should have thought of that yesterday. You agreed to my terms. Didn’t you? I
told you there would be no way back, unless I wanted to. It’s too soon for you
to leave.”
    Tears stream
down my cheeks. He places his other hand on my neck as well and sweeps them
away with his thumbs. His touch is gentle.
    I wish I could
pinch myself to wake up from this nightmare.
    “What are you
going to do to me?”
    “Nothing that
you don’t want to.”
    “I don’t want to
be tied. Please, release me,” I beg.
    “I’m afraid that
is the only thing I can’t do. We are going to play a game. I am going to do one
thing to you and you will tell me if you like it or not. If you don’t like it,
I’ll stop and release you. If you do like it, I will go on. The only thing I
want from you is to be honest. I don’t wish to hurt you, Calista. You are here
for a reason. If you can’t trust me, trust what your heart desires. What you
ache for.”
    His words calm
me. But I still feel my heart beating like a drum.
    He softly passes
his thumb over my lips, taking my breath
