managed to snag a job at a major fashion magazine. While that wasn’t what I wanted, it was a step in the right direction, as the parent company who owned that magazine also owned Rolling Stone.
I caught the attention of one of the editors with a piece I d id on music and today’s youth. They offered me a job and I jumped at the chance. My parents still thought I was only ‘playing’ and were patronizing when I told them about the new job. When I told them about traveling with the tour this summer, they thought it was crazy.
My older brother David is a successful surgeon in New York and they are always telling me to be more like him. When I told David about this assignment, the first thing he did was ask me for tickets. He thought what I did was kick ass and even told me he thought I was brave for doing my own thing and not what Mom and Dad said I should do.
“Where did you say you were from?” Drew asked, drawing my attention from Cane. Before I looked away I swore he had been checking me out. It was hard to tell with those sunglasses on though. Besides, he could have any woman in this room, why would he be interested in me?
“ Madison, Wisconsin,” I replied, “but I live in LA now.”
“ Cool,” he nodded with a smile. I wanted to cross my arms over my chest or tell him to quit looking down. He was sort of giving me the creeps the way he kept leering at me. I don’t think his eyes moved from my chest once when he talked to me. Yuck.
Then I finally got the much anticipated meeting with Cane. It started out so well. Cane oozed sex and it wasn’t long before my panties were damp. Too bad we couldn’t lose Drew and have a minute alone before his show.
I was pretty tall at 5’ 8” but even I felt small next to him. I didn’t listen to most of their conversation; I was too busy checking him out now that he was up close. God he was a gorgeous piece of man meat. That smile could charm the panties off a nun. No wonder women fell all over him. His voice was smooth and deep; I could listen to him talk all day. It was even sexier than when he sang.
When we shook hands, I felt a jolt of desire shoot from my nipples to between my legs. The way he said my name made my knees weak. He smelled like a combination of beer and weed. Normally that would turn me off, but on him it was sexy. I wanted to wrap my body around him.
Of course Drew wasted no time telling him I was with Rolling Stone. He was in the business long enough and knew the reaction Cane would have when he found out I was with the press. Asshole. If he thought that would increase his chances with me, he was sorely mistaken.
My heart sank at the way Cane looked at me now. I was used to getting that reaction from people in the entertainment industry. They’re all afraid I’m going to discover some deep secret of theirs and expose it to the world.
I watched Cane walk away, biting my lip at the way his jeans hugged his ass. Damn Drew. Why did he have to wreck my chances with Cane by telling him I was a reporter? He would find out eventually, but I was hoping to get laid at least once before he would avoid me.
There was no shortage of men to sleep with on this tour, but Cane was t he one I had my sights set on. I probably shouldn’t jeopardize this dream job for a few orgasms, but a woman has needs. By the way Drew kept looking at me, he was more than likely a willing participant, but tall, nerdy perverts aren’t my thing.
“ I’ll take you backstage so you can watch Hookers and Hand Grenades. They’re about to go on.” He turned and I followed him down some hallways and a long corridor. I could hear the crowd cheering and Cane shouting at them.
Goosebumps raised on my arms in antici pation of seeing him on stage. We finally got to the VIP section and I was blown away. I knew this outdoor venue was huge, but seeing it full of people chanting for Cane and his band was wild.
Once again, I said a little prayer of thanks to the man upstairs for
