effortlessly away from the party. The music was muffled, the sounds of the world dying off as we moved.
“ Carried you over the threshold, I think i t’ s time we consummate .” Sean said, kicking a door open to a huge bedroom. A big four poster bed stood with beautiful sheer cloth draped from each corner. Sean reached up, grabbing at the long strands, pulling one down and wrapping it violently around my mouth. I tried to scream around the gag, but I knew nobody could hear me. I kicked and fought as he pulled down another long strand, using it to bind my hands behind my back. His hand came down on my face hard as he ripped cloth from my body.
“ Shut up or I will make you shut up .” He said, another slap hammering my cheek.
My whole body was shivering, skin exposed. There was nothing I could do... Nothing... My mind was numb, my skin screaming as he ran his hands over me, forcing me bent over the bed. My ears opened as I listened to the sound of his zipper sliding down. You could hear a pindrop... There was nothing, no sound...
    NO SOUND!
I screamed out again as loud as I could, kicking and moving with renewed vigor. Jake must have noticed my absence. Sean grabbed at me viciously as I threw my body around wildly, crying out. He flipped me, gripping my throat, face red and evil. He was going to choke me out! I tried to kick, to move, to do anything. his body was too heavy, too strong. I could n’ t even whimper as vision started to collapse into a tunnel, light fading. My eyes cried out for mercy but Sean was possessed. I was dying... I was...
    Falling?
The sensation hit me as I slumped down off the side of the bed. My brain still swimming I looked up and could see Jake and Sean grappling on the floor next to us. He must have knocked us clean off the bed. I gasped for air, my body trying desperately to recover, fingers gripping at the carpet. Jake was strong, but there was no question Sean was stronger. His muscular frame moved wildly, he must have taken off his shirt as he was forcing me over on the bed. I watched his fists come down wildly, Jake taking blow after blow. He fought back, catching an arm and dragging him in close, rolling and slamming an elbow into Sea n’ s cheek. Sean barely even flinched, slamming his head forward into Jak e’ s and laying him flat.
My body ached as I pulled myself up against a nightstand. Sean was already moving in for more, getting up as Jake was trying to crawl away. Suddenly, Jake launched again, his feet finding traction as he hurled himself into Sea n’ s midsection the two trading blows and damage.
“ Run, Katie.. .” Jake managed to shout, Sean continuing to pummel him. His voice stopped under the raining blows. My mind was still swimming, but I lifted myself to my knees, coming face to face with a big heavy looking lamp...
I did n’ t think. Adrenaline coursed through me as I gripped it, pulling the cord free from the wall. I spun, my whole body crying out, my voice screaming as I hurled myself across the room. Sean looked up, the wooden shaft of the lamp crashing down on his face.

    Chapter 5: Aftermath

The hospital was cold, but Jak e’ s hands were warm as ever.
“ Katie ?” Jake whispered, one eye blinking slightly. H e’ d been out cold since his arrival, and once I was discharged I’ d spent every waking second in this room praying for him to wake.
“ Jak e… Oh my go d … ” I said, tears pouring out my eyes like giant teardrops.
“ You look like hel l … ” Jake whispered, managing something that looked almost like a smile. The purple bruises were still wrapped around my neck, a black eye shining on my face and a bright red eye to set everything off.
“ Well you look like shit !” I said, and we both laughed, Jake wincing as his chest lifted and fell. I put my fingertip over his split and damaged lips, quieting him. His face was puffy and swollen, an eye almost sealed shut by the damage to the skin. I wanted to make it better, to
