soft, kind smile. Not a you-just-had-public-sex-with-a-pervert smile.
The haze of desire began to fade and I was coming down from my high. I smiled quickly and averted my gaze. I tried to move away, but he held me in place. He didn’t say anything as he refastened my bra and buttoned my shirt.
He helped me off his lap, disposed of the condom and redid his jeans. “Um…I’m sorry about your panty-thong thing.” He held up my ripped pink lace thong.
I shrugged a shoulder. “It’s not like they cover a whole lot anyway.”
He laughed. “No. I guess not.”
    I smiled.
He reached out and brushed the hair off my shoulder and kissed the curve of my neck. “You’re not turning shy on me now are you?”
“Um…” I gave a half laugh and looked to the side only to see two people having sex. I looked down at my lap.
“Because I was going to ask you out to dinner. I figure we have all the awkward stuff out of the way. We can just go have a nice dinner.”
My mouth dropped opened. I couldn’t tell if he was making fun of me or if he was really serious. Was this his way to pick-up girls? “Really?”
    He nodded.
“Was this some kind of test?”
“Test?” He drew his eyebrows down over his eyes.
“Yeah, like, do her first and make sure she’s up to standard before you ask her out?”
He laughed and shook his head. “No. I swear to you that’s not what this was.”
“Then what was it?” I asked.
“What was it to you?” He raised his eyebrows.
“I’m not sure. I’ve never done anything like this before. It just—”
    “Felt right?”
    “Yeah. Kinda.” I nodded.
“Believe it or not, I’ve never done this before either. So, see, we already have something in common. We were both subway virgins before today.”
I laughed. “Dinner, huh? And then?”
He shook his head. “And then nothing. I don’t have any expectations. If something happens after dinner it’ll be up to you. I just want to get you to agree to dinner. I figure I’ll be lucky if that happens.”
    “Okay.”
    “Yeah?” He smiled.
    “Yes, under one condition.”
    “ What?”
“You have to tell me your name.” I gave him a small smile.
He chuckled and held his hand out, “Hi, I’m Rivers.”
I put my hand in his and looked into his eyes. “Julia. It’s nice to meet you.” Rivers turned my hand over and kissed the inside of my wrist. It sent fingers of heat straight to my core.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Julia.” He grinned against my skin. “Are you ready to get off? It’s like we’re in a porno here.” He looked around.
I’d been so focused on him I’d barely noticed what was going on, but he was right. Add a camera to the mix and someone would have a great orgy scene.
“Yeah, we can get off at the next stop. But, you know, you’re the reason everyone’s doing the nasty around us.”
“Me?” He shook his head. “Nope. I gotta call bullshit on that. I wasn’t the one moaning. I told you to be quiet or we’d have an audience.”
I laughed and let him help me out of the train when it stopped, thankful to leave behind the writhing bodies and smell of sex permeating the air.

I t was awkward on the platform. I stood next to him; his hand wrapped around mine.
“Um, I need to go to the restroom.” I angled myself toward the room and took a step. “I’ll just be a minute.”
Before I could take another step he pulled me against him and I gasped. His mouth descended on mine, his tongue sliding between my lips, flicking against my own. He let go of my hand and cupped my cheek—it was such a sweet thing. I’d only know this man for an hour. I shared more bodily fluids with him than words. And he did something so sweet, so tender it made my heart ache. No one had ever cupped my face when they’d kissed me before. They were too busy grabbing other parts of my body. Which Rivers was doing with his other hand and I was very happy to let him.
I moaned into his mouth when he grabbed my hip and
