nothing that either of you can do to help him out of that. He needs to get a lawyer.” Well that was that. Gloria had still put Jared in a bad spot. He would not be going home today. They would still put him into booking on the drug charges. Gloria had sent the police to Jared's home specifically because she knew there would be drugs, and now we couldn't get him out of the mess entirely. I knew that Jared was going to need a damn good lawyer in his corner now to get him out of the mess he was in.
Chapter Five
Our next stop was Gloria's office. I didn’t want to. I thought if I saw her again I might choke her. Link thought that we should at least talk it over with her. The very thought of going to that woman for help was enough to raise my blood pressure. “Sweetheart we need to talk to her to see if she will help.” “She's not going to want to help. She hates me and she wants to bring down Jared.” “Trust me, she will listen to me.” I rolled my eyes, “Yeah I bet.” We rolled up to her building and made our way up to her office. It felt like Deja vu for me all over again. I was sure that the receptionist would be thrilled to see me. When the elevator door opened I was immediately met with a glare. “Don't you even think about it missy. You are not getting back in here again.” Link piped up, “Actually I am a client of Gloria's and it's an emergency. I need to see her immediately. You can let her know that I'm here and I assure you that she will see me.” “And you are?” “You can tell her that Link is here.” The receptionist made a call in to Gloria and told her that Link was there. She frowned when she got off the phone. “She will see you,” she said unhappily. She ushered us into Gloria's office and shut the door behind her. Gloria sat behind her desk with a big smile on her face. It made me want to break out all the pretty white teeth of hers… “Why Gemma, it's so good to see you again, what has it been? Not even six hours since we spoke last. I sure did miss you.” “Well I did have a productive day. First I smashed a bottle of wine, had mind-blowing sex and then went to the police station, but here I am again.” Gloria glared at me at the mention of sex while I smiled sweetly at her. She turned to Link and said, “What's going on Link?” “I went to the police station to drop the charges on Jared, but now he has drug charges. They were willing to drop the ones I had on him but they are going to continue to press charges for possession of illegal substances. I need you to help get him out.” Her mouth dropped open, “Are you crazy? Link you hired me to help you with Jared and I did. He got exactly what he deserved. You had no business going there and dropping the charges to begin with. What have I been working my ass off for? I'm trying to help you and you keep back-peddling the process because of her.” She stuck her finger out at me and shot me another dirty look. “Leave her out of this Gloria; this has nothing to do with Gemma. She's just been in the crossfire. I never wanted to destroy Jared, I just wanted him to back off and he has so we solved the problem. I did ask for your help and I'm asking again.” “You know I would love to help you out; I would do anything for you,” she said coyly. The display was enough to make me want to vomit. “Come on Gloria, knock it off. Start acting like an adult. I really need you here, but I'm sick of this nonsense. Stop toying with people's lives. I know the two of you don't like each other but I need your help.” Gloria blushed a deep red and I was satisfied that she was capable of being embarrassed. I really didn't think she had it in her. She looked down in to her hands, speechless. I couldn't have been more turned on by Link's display of dominance over the situation. “Okay Link, if that's what you want. Let’s go see Jared.”
