grandfather-type that brought her coffee every morning and sat around it chit-chatting until the bar opened. He was a nice enough bar-fly, but then 11 AM hit and he was gone. Being alone could be relaxing, but at this point in the day it was starting to get a little boring.
As soon as she heard the rumble of a big bike pull into the parking lot she got excited. Finally, some action. Tessa got up and peaked through the blinds on the large bay window, just in time to see her boss pull off his helmet and start into the garage.
“Anyone here?” He called out as he opened the bay door and started walking towards the office.
Tessa propped herself up against the door jam and smiled. “Just me.”
“Yeah. Me. Told you I was going to be in late, but it looks like the bank was more on top of their shit than I thought they’d be.” He was always a little sarcastic with just a touch of flirt in him, but she usually ignored it.
“I think I can handle myself,” She teased.
“I bet you can.”  It wasn’t a compliment. Typical. She shouldn’t have been shocked at the way he talked to her, but she was. Three weeks and he was still just as standoffish as he was the first day.
And the implied insults never stopped.
His eyes were a strong shade of emerald green, something she had never noticed before.
“Hey, you wanna give me a hand? This is really a two person job, and I thought Eli would be in today, but he called off,  and that other dunderhead I hired hasn’t shown up for work in three days.” Ryker looked positively irritated to have to ask.
    “Me?”
“What? It isn’t going to be that hard, Tessa. I need someone. Besides, what the hell am I paying you for it I can’t even get the help I need?”
“Depends. Do you want me to actually help, or are you just looking for someone to bitch at?” It was an honest question. One she couldn’t help but ask.
Was that a hint of a smile?
“A little bit of both. You in?”
“Maybe.” She smiled and followed him, almost shocked at her own behavior. They’d been in a standoff for weeks. Was this the first sign that he was going to give in?
Ryker was her boss. Tessa tried hard not to notice the way his thick muscles and dark hair made him look serious and sexy. Hell, she never so much as gave him a second, well okay, a third glance. He was totally off limits, and she was recovering.
    Hiding.
No guy should even be on her radar right now.
But Jenny did say she needed a rebound… and maybe she was a little too bored.
Tessa didn’t know much about bikes. She hadn’t been around long enough learn about them, and she didn’t really care very much. Riding them was fun, at least it was when she was a teenager, but working on them? She was glad to leave it to the boys.
“You mind bending down and getting that wrench for me?” Ryker asked as he looked up from his position laying down next to the motorcycle. He was working on something and he must have needed it.
She bent down, reaching for it.
“Wow, she does know how to work.”
Tessa jumped up quickly, and threw the wrench at his gut. He made a small oof noise, and when she looked over at him he was grinning wickedly. He was hot, like damn, fucking, hot. How had she missed that before? She looked him over, biting her lip as she realized what a man he had become. His black t-shirt was skin tight, showing every curve of his muscles as he worked. He was the right kind of built, lean with minimal bulk, but all muscle.
“I could say the same about you,” She said, making the decision to take it further. She didn’t know how much to push, but she was having too much fun playing the game. “I thought you only sulked around here, yelling at helpless kids, and acting like an ass.”
Shit. Did that really just come out of her mouth?
The sexual tension between them had erupted over the past week. Yeah, she tried to ignore it, but now they were openly, and aggressively, angry flirting with one another.
    Shit. That
