he had been thinking about
how to get her into bed and it hadn’t crossed his mind that he didn’t know her
name yet. Men were so predictable.
He took a long pull of his bottle and she couldn’t keep from
staring at his corded neck as he swallowed. Then he turned to her, stuck out
his hand and said, “Hi, I’m Trent.”
Fiona couldn’t help it, her laughter rang out over the
crowded bar and several people turned to look at them curiously. Still
chuckling, she took his hand. “I’m Fiona.”
The moment their hands touched the fire in her blood took
hold again and she couldn’t think of anything else to say, let alone string two
thoughts together. He looked down at their entwined fingers and then raised
them to his lips. She held her breath as he rubbed her knuckles across his
mouth then she felt his tongue dart out and taste the skin on the back of her
hand.
She might have fallen off her stool if he hadn’t been
gripping her hand so tightly. He never broke eye contact and his directness
captured her as nothing had before. This wasn’t the usual seduction scene she
was accustomed to.
She watched the smirk come to his mouth and wanted to run
her tongue along it. He cleared his throat and asked, “So do you wanna get out
of here?”
Feeling the blood pound in her ears and the fire of desire
burn along her veins, she didn’t have to think about her answer. “Absolutely,”
was all she could say to him.
He smiled and didn’t release her hand. Instead he helped her
from the stool and tugged her toward the door, leaving their unfinished drinks
sitting at the bar.
Chapter Two
They walked down the quiet, darkened streets, hand in hand,
Fiona not sure what to say as the silence stretched between them. Without the
buffer of the other people around them Fiona started to wonder if this was a
good idea. It felt…dangerous. She never lost her control and the desire
clouding her brain was quickly fraying her hold. Fiona could feel her body
winding tighter and tighter with every step she took.
“Where are we going?” His voice carried across the sidewalk
to her, edgy and full of promise. She shivered in response.
“I just assumed we would go to my place. It’s only a few
blocks from here.” She had just headed toward home without even thinking about
it. She suddenly knew there was no way she was backing out. He was too tempting
and the attraction between them was undeniable.
Trent hooked his arm around her narrow waist and pulled her
closer. “That’s good. I can’t wait to get there.”
She looked up to smile at him. His penetrating stare stopped
her in her tracks and the smile faded from her mouth. He pulled her into the
circle of his arms and she couldn’t look away. Something about him was
different. She couldn’t put her finger on it but she could see a hidden
intensity in his clear, green eyes.
She laid her hands on his chest, taking a step closer so she
could feel his heat and smell his spicy scent. He glanced around them quickly
and then tugged her into a shadow of a nearby building. She didn’t hesitate and
released a long sigh when his warm, seeking mouth lowered to hers.
He teased her at first, brushing his lips across her and
then dipping his tongue into the corners of her mouth. With a desperate moan
she opened to him and he groaned with pleasure, jerking her flush against him.
His tongue plundered and swirled, sweeping her away with his kiss.
She couldn’t recall ever having been kissed like this. He
made her feel as if he might die if she suddenly decided to deny him access.
Low moans escaped her and she moved her hand up over his shoulders to wrap her
arms around his neck.
She met the demands of his kiss with equal enthusiasm. His
hands went down to cup her rear and used it to pull her up against the part of
him that was straining against his pants. Arching her back, she rocked her hips
back and forth against him.
Suddenly she was lost. All she wanted was him and she
irrationally
