Crystal didn’t want to use hers for that.
Blake tipped the bottle back, took another long, slow sip of
the beer, his lips pressed to the top, and damn if she didn’t wish she were
that bottle, wanted so badly for his lips to be pressing against hers again.
Stupid.
“She must have started transporting drugs when she wasn’t as
attractive, couldn’t get the things she needed with her worn-out body.” It was
a sad life, but even worse were the men who enabled her, the men who were
supposed to be serving and protecting the city. They took advantage of a sick
woman.
“I got a call last summer that she was in trouble and needed
me. I scraped up all the money I had and bought a bus ticket back home to come
take care of her. Her health was failing. I’m sure it was because of the drugs.
Anyway that’s how I got started doing the deliveries. At first I didn’t know
what was in the packages and once I did, it was too late, they had me. They
beat up my mom, threatened to kill her.” Crystal sucked in a deep breath and
forced her emotions down. “I couldn’t stop doing it.”
Was he checking to see if her story changed from when she
told it to him on the boat? It wouldn’t change, it was the truth.
“Would you like another beer?” Crystal offered and got up
from her chair to take his empty.
He stood up at the same time. “No thank you. Just tell me
where your garbage is and I’ll throw this away.”
“It’s okay. I got it.” She put her hand over his on the
bottle, could feel the heat of his skin against hers. He didn’t release the
bottle, didn’t move away, but pulled her down close to him, as if he was going
to kiss her.
And damn if she didn’t want him to. She tilted her head up,
leaned in, inviting Blake to kiss her, needing him to touch her again.
He didn’t disappoint, kissed her as if he wanted her as much
as she wanted him. Tongues tangled, explored. He tasted like beer and for once
she didn’t mind the taste. She just needed more. More of his heat. More of his
touch.
Crystal pushed Blake backward, down onto the couch and
straddled him, molding her body tightly to his. His cock was hard, pressing
solidly against her pussy and she rubbed against it, needed him slamming deep
inside her, hard and fast.
Blake groaned but then pulled away from her kiss.
“I’m sorry. I can’t be doing this.” He couldn’t even look at
her when he said the words.
And immediately she felt stupid for throwing herself at the
man. She knew he was someone she couldn’t keep. But keeping him wasn’t what she
was thinking about right now. What she could or couldn’t keep didn’t seem all
that important in this moment. All that really mattered was quenching the
burning need between her legs. That look in his eyes told her he felt it too,
wanted it as much as she did.

Chapter Two

“Why not?” Crystal challenged, fire sparking in those sexy
eyes. He shouldn’t even be attracted to the woman but he was. God help him.
“We’re going to be working together. It’s not appropriate.”
Blake forced himself to say the words while his cock was in full protest. He’d
wanted another taste of her, wanted to touch her again the whole damn ride
home, but it was completely against every rule in the book. Not that he was
much for following the rules, especially the ones he didn’t agree with.
“So you’re not allowed to have any fun on the job?” Crystal
purred and wiggled against his cock again and he nearly lost it.
He knew from that first kiss she was going to be trouble.
There was something about her that was irresistible and now that he knew her
background he had even more respect for the woman. Which was exactly why he
shouldn’t be touching her, shouldn’t want to fuck her so damn bad. She deserved
a good man, a stable man, someone she could count on a happily ever after with.
Not a man like him.
“We can have fun on the job, but sex would…complicate
things.” He forced out the words he didn’t
