They had no children. With both of them focusing on their careers, it never seemed the right time to start a family. Not that it wasn’t in their future plans. But, still in their early thirties, they felt as if they had time yet. They used one of the bedrooms as an exercise room and the other as a home office for the both of them.
Pacing through the bedroom , he stripped out of his suit and tie, throwing them on the chair in the corner. He changed into a pair of jeans and t-shirt then headed into the bathroom where he splashed his face with cold water.  Jackson dried his face with a towel he grabbed off the ring that hung on the wall and stared at his reflection in the mirror above the sink. Throwing the towel to the side, he placed his hands on the cool marble counter and leaned forward.  What the fuck am I going to do?   Images of Jade and Sydney together flashed through his mind. As hot as it all was, that was his wife, and she was making love to another person.  He didn’t want to lose her.  He knew Jade loved him.  Jackson could feel it deep in his soul.  Their marriage was good.  Their life together was nearly perfect.  He needed to figure out what to do; he would do anything to keep her.

Plating the stir-fry for each of them, she thought about the exchange that she and Jackson just had.  Normally not that talkative when he came home from work, he usually said “hello” and then disappeared into their bedroom to change. After that, he’d move to the office to follow-up on emails or return client phone calls for a little while before emerging for dinner.  Many nights she ate alone, his dinner saved on the stove until he was finished with his work.  She didn’t like it, but that was the way Jackson was—he always invested one hundred percent in his business.
Topping off her glass of wine, she set it on the table next to her plate and grabbed another beer out of the refrigerator for Jackson just in time for his return.  “Hey, babe, perfect timing!” she said, as she smiled at him.
Grinning back, he grabbed a seat at the table across from her and looked down at his plate as he lifted his fork.  “This looks and smells amazing, Jadie.”  Spearing a piece of beef, he brought it to his mouth and moaned.  “Outstanding Jade. Really excellent, hun!”
She smiled , very pleased.  She loved to cook; especially for Jackson.  He enjoyed and ate with gusto everything she made, even when she didn’t think the meal turned out that well.  He was always so encouraging. She loved how supportive he was of everything she did.
W orking for a small design company after she graduated from college, Jackson had encouraged her to pursue her own business.  She loved what she did and was treated very well by the company she worked for, but she wanted to own her designs, wanted her name associated with her products, not someone else’s.  She was hesitant to leave her well-paying job and make the move, but Jackson convinced her that with his business doing well, he could support them while she set up her own.  It really was a smart move for her.  She had earned a solid reputation as a jewelry designer with her company, so when she started Jaded Designs, she already had boutiques and stores ready to buy.  She had grown to the point that she now had employees, including a personal assistant, to help her.  It was a small company, and she preferred it that way; slow and steady growth was a smart way to expand.
They ’d met right after college.  He had just graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Criminal Justice, and she was a business major from the University of Wisconsin, who took a job with a small jewelry manufacturer.  It was there that she discovered her love of design.  She was good at the business aspect of it, but spoke at great lengths with the people on the design team.  After submitting a few drawings and ideas, she’d started the slow process of switching her field.
