blanc. She drank it with ice in the summer.
âI was thinking of taking a drive later in the week,â he said, âand was wondering if youâd like some company. I havenât been up to Woodstock in a while and would like to come up to visit. I missâ¦the house.â
âIs Melinda alright?â
âYes, our daughterâs fine.â
âThank God.â She sipped her wine. âI suppose if your mind is set on it thereâs little I can do to dissuade you.â
âItâs going to be a beautiful weekend,â he said quietly, âand I thought it would be nice to take a walk and have dinner. I love that old farmhouse restaurant in town.â
âOkay, David. Next Saturday?â
âIâll have Andy drive me up in the early afternoon. Iâll see if Melinda would like to join us.â
âIt would be nice to spend some time together.â
âIâll call you on the way.â
When they hung up, Lowell went out to the backyard and sat for almost an hour, beer forgotten in hand, staring at the fence.

âDad?â
âOh, sorry. She sounded okay. Iâm driving up next weekend, and I was wondering if youâd like to come along.â
Melinda walked over to the window and picked up the turtleâs food. She sprinkled a little into the tank and watched as Buster and Keaton shambled over for a second treat. âItâs that time of year again, isnât it?â
Lowell was silent.
âYes, I guess Iâll come up.â She gazed out the window. âIt doesnât get any easier with time, does it?â
âNot really. But it would be good to get together as a family.â
âI miss him everyday.â
âSo do I.â
Melinda nodded. âOkay, when do you want to leave?â
âSaturday morning about nine.â
âWill Andy pick me up, or should I come up to the townhouse?â
âAndy will get you. Unless you want to stay over Friday night.â
âIâll check my social calendar and let you know.â Melinda had made finger quotes when referring to her social life. âWhat are you working on?â
âThere are a few things Iâm looking into. I just took a rather unusual case.â
She laughed. âYou donât get any other kind. What is it?â
âA Dr. Williamson asked me to find his sonâs identical twin. According to him they were separated shortly after birth when the wife apparently took off with one of the children. The boy has advanced kidney disease and needs a transplant which, because of a rare blood type, apparently only his missing twin brother can supply.â
Melinda turned from the window and looked at her father. âNot your usual case. Do you have the charts yet?â
Lowell shook his head. âOnly for the boys.â
âWhy did the wife run off? And why did she only take one son?â
âI donât know. There are a lot of things about this situation that seem a little weird. I have to wait for the parentsâ birth information before I can really move forward. Williamson was oddly reluctant to supply his own details on the spot. I let it go for now until I figure this guy out.â
âWhy wouldnât he tell you?â
Lowell shrugged. âHeâs supposed to email me his and his wifeâs birth information. I need to find out a lot more about the parents if Iâm going to find the child.â
âSounds like itâs time for a Mort special.â
Lowell nodded. âBest Internet guy Iâve ever known. Whatever dataâs out there about this guy, Mort will find it.â He turned to the computer screen. âLetâs look at the twinsâ charts.â
Melinda was his best astrology student.
Having already put the information into his Solar Fire computer program, Lowell brought the two charts up simultaneously on his computer screen then hit a button which directed the image
