making it swing forward. He pressed tender, light kisses along my shoulder, making me shiver as he closed the wounds. My legs were nearly ready to give out on me and, sensing my needs, Andre pulled out of me, his cock still hard and ready for more bouncing against my tender ass before he stepped back.
Andre bent over and pushed his pants down before stepping out of them. I was so dazed I couldn’t decide what to do, but he saved me from figuring it out; he scooped me up in his arms and walked us over to the bed, crawling to the middle before he laid me down. He tucked me into his side as he lay down on his back, one arm under his head. I rolled comfortably into his side, resting my cheek on his chest, one arm draped over his stomach and one leg bent over his hip.
I drew inconsequential designs over his chest with my fingertip, listening to the quiet in the room. With Daniel or Corbin, I would’ve listened to their breathing and their heartbeat slowing after our lovemaking, but not with Andre. With Andre, the world was quiet after so much screaming and slapping of flesh. Andre shifted under me and I realized he was reaching for something. I glanced up and saw his arm outstretched as he picked up something from my nightstand.
“So,” Andre said as he lifted my necklace in the air, letting the star hang above my face. “How did you come by such a special little charm as this?”
“I got it at the Solstice festival,” I replied, reaching up to take it, but Andre pulled it out of my reach, making my fingers close around air. He swung it away to examine it further. I pushed up onto one elbow and tried to lean over him, reaching for it. Andre tossed it into the air and caught the charm in his palm, making a fist around it.
“Damn it, Andre!” I cursed, still trying to snatch it away. He sat up, making me slip into his lap, my ass in the air as I bent over him. His empty hand came down in a loud smack, making me yelp in surprise, my already tender rear tingling painfully. I scrambled quickly off of his lap and out of the bed, spinning around and catching his wrist, my reflexes heightened with the renewed power coursing through my body, so even his vampire speed couldn’t help him now. I pried his fingers open and took the charm from him.
“I doubt you bought that,” Andre said as I walked over to the dresser, about to put the necklace down on a decorative dish some of my other jewelry lay piled on, but I hesitated, holding the charm in my palm. The metal was warm to the touch and the amethyst chips were almost sparkling.
“No,” I said after a moment. “No, I didn’t buy it. Someone gave it to me.”
“A fairy?” Andre asked. I heard him shift on the bed and the box spring squeaked as he swung his legs over the edge to sit up.
“Uh, you know,” I said, finally letting the charm drop before I turned around to face him again. “I’m not even sure.”
    “How do you mean?”
“I mean, at first I thought he was a fairy, but the more I think about it, I think maybe he was an elf, like me, but not.”
“You couldn’t recognize another elf?” Andre arched one slender black brow at me.
“I know,” I said, shaking my head. “I think he was using a really strong glamour.”
“Strong enough to confuse another elf?”
“I guess.” I dropped my eyes, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed. Was I so acclimated to our mixed society that I lost the ability to recognize my own kind?
“Oh, now, don’t look so,” Andre said, making me glance up at him.
He stood and walked towards me. Now that I wasn’t so distracted by my need and lack of power or having the charm dangling in my face, I could just admire his form. Andre had died sometime in his earlier thirties; he told me it had been so long that the exact age faded from his memory, as did many of his human memories. But having lived until that age, any hint of the young boy he might’ve been was carved out of his features, leaving a chiseled jaw
