stretched into nowhere, slow strokes keeping Conquest’s breath hard and bated. When the bike finally stopped, I let go, a tinge of sadness as my fingers left him. He’d gotten me off without even touching me, and I wanted desperately to return the favor, by any means necessary… I looked around, pitch blackness in every direction, the light of the bike winking out as Conquest stepped off.
“Where are we?” I asked, the desert air draped around me.
“A surprise…” Conquest replied, opening a saddle bag on the bike and pulling out a thick blanket. He spread it out on the dirt alongside the road, a small cloth sanctuary against the desert floor. I soon found myself laying at his side, staring up at a clear dark sky, stars blazing stronger than I could remember seeing in all of my life.
“It’s… Beautiful,” I whispered, the indescribable feeling of falling into space overwhelming my body.
“This is my spot, Jenna. This is where I come when I need to escape the world for awhile. People will die soon, maybe some of my own men…”
    “I don’t understand.”
My body felt detached, floating, but Conquest’s hand brought me back to earth as it lay upon my stomach ever so softly.
“You don’t have to understand. Wheels are in motion, and I have to see it through. I know you care about War, but I’m telling you this as a warning… I can’t guarantee your safety Jenna.”
“I’m a big girl, I’m not scared,” I replied, defiantly.
    Conquest only laughed.
“Maybe it doesn’t matter… Maybe none of it does. I come out here and I pray but I’m not sure God is listening. This place makes reminds me how small I am… You’re not as big as you think, Jenna.”
I watched a shooting star streaking across the sky overhead.
“What are you scared of, Conquest?”
We sat in silence awhile, sharing a moment of thought.
“Look, there… Do you see the four stars that make a box?” Conquest asked, pointing suddenly into the air.
I swept my eyes across the sky, staring at the square in the sky.
“That is Pegasus. Now look just up there, do you see the big M?”
The lines were easy to draw, two peaks unmistakeable.
    “Yes…”
    “That is Cassiopeia.”
“Why are you showing me this?”
    “I’m answering your question.”
I let out a little apologetic whimper.
“Now look closely,” Conquest whispered. “Draw a line from Cassiopeia to the lower corner of Pegasus. Right in the middle, just below the line. Do you see it Jenna?”
    “I see… Something.”
    “Relax your eyes…”
“It’s like a blur of light.”
My body felt as though it were falling again, my eyes trying to focus on the fuzzy patch of sky. It seemed larger than a star, different…
    “That, Jenna, is Andromeda.”
    “A star?”
    “Another galaxy…”
My back felt as though it was lifting from the ground, flying me into the sky.
“Billions of stars Jenna, just one little point in the sky, coming straight at us.”
I stared into the sky, breathless.
“One day, the sky will rain down on us all. Galaxies will collide and nothing we do, nothing our children do, nothing our children’s children do will hold any meaning.”
I took in a deep breath of the fresh air, staring.
    “Are you afraid of that?”
    “No.”
“What are you afraid of Conquest?”
“I’m afraid nobody will be there to watch it with me. I’ve seen the way you look at War, Jenna. I need that. Someone to share forever.”
“You’ll find her,” I whispered, my mind reeling. “I found mine.”
War was everything. It had taken a night in the desert to realize it.
    “Do I have your vote?”
“No, little dove… For that, I’ll need to fuck you.”
My breath caught in my throat as I rolled my body atop him, staring down at his eyes, two dark inky pools filled with stars.
“Not here, not in front of God,” Conquest said quietly. Tonight we ride, we find the men and get you home.
“When?” I replied, my voice a mere
