shower to super hot and the steam began to build up inside the room. Marcus stood on the trash bin and wiped away the steam from the window so he could see outside. Once the coast was clear, he signaled to Samantha who gave him a quick thumbs up. She pulled her dress up and refastened her bra. She pulled her hair back and used a rubber band she found on the sink to tie it into a ponytail. Marcus opened the window and jumped up so he could slide out. At that moment, Samantha opened the door as steam rushed out of the room. The officer outside took a step back as the intense moisture billowed out of the room.

“Excuse me Miss,” the officer said. “Do you have anyone else in there with you?”
“Does it look like I have anyone else in here,” she said trying to sound annoyed. “And when is it okay to pound on the door and scare the crap out of people?”
“I do apologize Miss but we are looking for a possible fugitive,” he replied.
“A fugitive,” she asked. “Like an escaped convict?”
“Yes Miss,” he replied. “A dangerous criminal. He was seen on Main Street a little while ago after he allegedly got into an altercation with a member of a rival Biker gang.”
“Well no I haven’t seen anyone like that,” she said. “You are more than welcome to check the stall if you’d like.” She pretended to let her hand slip and the door closed behind her and locked.

The officer tried the door handle and realized it was locked. He looked at the signed posed next to the door and saw that it was several quarters to reopen it. He searched his pockets before giving up. As he patted his slacks, Samantha looked to her left and saw Marcus slip away unnoticed. Her heart sank a bit to know that he was an escaped convict and a Biker gang member. She knew he was possibly dangerous but she had no idea just what he was all about. She felt her eyes well up slightly. She took a deep sigh and fought off the tears.

“Look, can I go,” she asked the confused officer. “I have to be somewhere in a half an hour.”
“Of course Miss,” the officer replied. “If you happen to remember anything about seeing a tall man with dark black hair and tattoos, please call the number on this card.”
“Ok so should I call it now,” she said sarcastically. “Because there are about a hundred or more people fitting that description today.”
“Of course not,” he replied sounding annoyed. “This man has a very distinguishable tattoo of a rose on the back of his neck. It is very large and hard to miss. It’s the symbol of a Death Angel member.”
“Death Angel, what is that,” she asked.
“It’s a notorious Biker gang that happens to be feuding with another gang called the Devil’s Rejects. That man I told you about got into a fight with one of their members.”
“Ok, I will surely call if I happen to see someone who matches that description,” she replied.
“Thank you for your time Miss,” the officer said as he walked away.

Samantha felt several different things all at once, as she learned Marcus’s true identity. Having just learned he was a gang member who was evading the law, she felt relief that she was not hurt. However, at the same time, she was also conflicted about her personal feelings for him. They had shared a very intimate embrace and her heart felt that she could trust him. Her common sense on the other had told her to took the other way and forget all about him. She ultimately decided not to pursue him that day and went home.

Chapter Five

“I still don’t know who he is,” Samantha said aloud as she walked with Amber down Main Street.
“Who who is,” Amber asked confused.
“Huh,” Samantha asked breaking her trail of thought.
“You just said that you still didn’t know who he is,” Amber replied. “Who is he?”
“O-oh,” Samantha said coming out of her daydream. “I’m sorry. I was just talking to myself.”
“Ooook,” Amber replied looking very confused.
