that Noah would be better for her in the long run, instead of keeping her in an emotional rut he would be able to help her recover from her past.

The Date

Neela sat in the chair in front of the full sized mirror in her room. Hannah was behind her with a curling wand doing her hair. Neela had just filled Hannah in on everything that had happened since the beach day they had earlier that week.
Hannah was no newcomer when it came to Neela’s personal life. Lots of the time Neela would talk to Hannah about her conquests. Mostly just to make sure she was still reacting like a human and not some sex robot. Neela wanted to have normal relationships but she didn’t seem capable of it.
“So what do I do?” Neela looked at her friend’s reflection and waited.
“Well… I think that the fact you are so desperate for my advice means that you are very slowly making progress toward being in a healthy relationship with a guy. Second off, I think that even though David is giving you exactly what you need right now, he isn’t exactly going to help you get out of your relationship rut. Being with David might be easier for you but it isn’t going to help you at all. Noah seems like he will be able to help you emotionally and help you move into being able to hold healthy relationships, but he could also turn you off of it completely if he comes on too strong to fast.” Hannah grabbed another piece of hair and wrapped it around the curling wand.
“I’m confused. So you’re saying that either of these guys could be good for me but they could also be bad for me. So you really haven’t helped me decide anything.” Neela sighed and pursed her lips.
“To be honest I don’t think you know either of them well enough to make an educated decision. I’ll break it down for you in simpler terms. David equals relationship that you are used to, he won’t push you to share your emotions, so you will stay in the same emotional rut you are already in. On the other hand you and David may be able to help each other out of the emotional rut simply because the two of you are both damaged. Noah equals a healthy relationship, one that you should be in. But if Noah tries to push you to share too much too fast he could end up setting you back instead of moving you forward.” Hannah nodded once she was through explaining.
Neela sat quietly for a moment. Her friend was right. But once again, either of these guys could be good or bad for her.
“So I should get to know each of them a little bit better and take things slow. That way I will be able to decide whether they are pushing me in the wrong direction or not.” Neela looked back up at Hannah.
“Yeah I think that would be your best bet. Just don’t jump into anything too quickly and if Noah starts pushing too hard then you need to tell him that you have issues and you aren’t ready to share them with a complete stranger.” Hannah smiled. “You’ll be fine.” She encouraged Neela and sprayed her hair with hairspray.
Neela waited patiently outside her apartment building for Noah to show up. She was feeling a little nervous about the date and thought some fresh air would help clear her head.
She was only outside for ten minutes or so when Noah pulled up in a black sports car. He climbed out of his car with huge smile on his face. He opened up the passenger side door.
“Are you ready?” Noah asked as he held his hand out to her. She smiled and took his hand as she lowered herself into the car.
“So where are we going?” Neela asked once Noah was back in the car.
“Are you hungry?” He smiled at her and took her hand. Neela fought the urge to pull her hand away and nodded.
After about half hour of driving through the city and talking about their favorite kinds of music, they arrived at a small private seafood restaurant.
“You’re ok with seafood right?” Noah turned to her suddenly, like he just realized that not everyone likes seafood. Neela laughed
    “Most of it
