and an afro pick with a fist sticking out of it. His tight pimp pants were pulled up into his crotch showing off a large ball of pimp dick. The platform shoes on his feet added an additional four inches to the already tall man. If it wasn’t for the colorful whores flanking him he may have been mistaken for a basketball player.
“That’s Pimpin’ Leroy!” Byron shouted in a whisper, of star struck awe, as if the pimp was one of The Beatles.
“I know!” Billy shot back defensively since only a lame wouldn’t have known who the man was. His mama kept him in the church so much that he fought that much harder to be a part of the streets.
The pimp had a thick stick of smoldering reefer stuck between his thick lips. It stayed put even when he spoke, how cool was that? He scanned the premises as pimps do and did a double take when he saw Billy staring his way.
“He coming over here!” Byron said excitedly, once again proving his ability to state the obvious. Billy locked eyes on the thighs of the young whore to his left. He remembered her being a few grades ahead of him when they went to school. Mandy was only sixteen, she’d skipped high school for the pros.
“What’s yo’ mama’s name?” Leroy asked seeing how much the boy favored him.
“L–L–Lady,” he stuttered. He too realized that the man looked familiar but couldn’t place the face.
“Never heard of her,” the pimp lied. He retrieved a stick of reefer from a pocket of his pimp pants and passed it to Billy. Now if he really was one of his many children at least he couldn’t say he’d never given him anything.
“All y’all youngins get y’all young asses up out of here,” Sammy, the pool hall bouncer, announced. The teens were allowed to shoot pool and buy pops until the pimps and hustlers arrived.
“Come on, let’s go down by the river,” Billy directed as if they hadn’t been given the boot. Byron was a year older but accepted the taller teen as his leader.
“Y’all little niggas come check me out tomorrow. I got some work for y’all,” Leroy advised as they left. Billy nodded his head in response despite his apprehension.

“We finna be skraight if’n Leroy put us on,” Byron cheered. The poor kid lived in a rundown shack with no water or electricity, so he was eager to make some money.
“I ain’t messin’ with no pimp! My mama would lose her mind if’n she found out,” Billy surmised correctly. Lady threw fits and dragged him to see Pastor Paul for counseling at his every infraction. Doing so was a win/win situation for the woman, who wanted a chance to talk to the sexy preacher without his wife being present, it gave her time with him and plus the clergy man always seemed to have an impact on her fatherless son.
“You don’t want to cuzn’ you already getting bread. Where you get that money from anyway?” Byron asked again.
“Look…” Billy paused and let out a deep sigh. He knew the only way to keep a secret was to keep it a secret, but Byron was his best friend. “I’ll tell you, but you cain’t tell nobody! Promise!”
“Promise, on my mama!” the boy shot back quickly. Billy was too young and far too naïve to know how many rumors and how much gossip was proceeded by that very same vow.
“You know Shawna? Shawna, that be with my sister.”
“You talkin’ about that big red gal? One of The Buffalo Gals… sorry,” Byron said after repeating the offensive nickname of his sister’s crew. “What, you stole her purse?”
“Nope! I had sex with her and she gave me ten dollars!” Billy said proudly.
“You fucked that fat bitch?” Byron shouted and cracked up. He laughed so hard that Billy actually started to feel ashamed. The feeling only lasted a few seconds before he remembered how good, wet, and tight she was. Not to mention it had earned him ten bucks to his friend’s none.
“Shole did, and I’ma fuck her again first chance I get!”
“Shit, I’ll fuck her!” Byron said,
