spend time with you if you’re lonely.”
I’d thought I had the rage inside of me tamped down, but I was wrong; it came back with a vengeance. “There’s nothing going on between me and Jana. Are you pissed because you saw her with me in there?” I nodded toward the bar.
She shrugged flippantly. “That’s your own business, Sebastian. I’m not your warden. I don’t give a flying fuck who you sleep with.”
I stalked toward her and she stood firm. “That’s a lie and you know it.”
She scoffed. “I swear, you and the other royals think the world revolves around you.”
“Is that what you truly think?”
Her gaze focused on something over my shoulder and her expression softened. Sighing, she stepped away from the wall, her steps slowly retreating. “No, not all of you, just certain ones. I’ve gotta go.” She took off down the street and I started to go after her, but a hand to my shoulder stopped me. I knew who it was.
“Leave me be, brother,” I warned.
Micah gripped harder. “Let her go, Seb. It’s not going to do you any good. Tyla’s extremely stubborn. You’re only pushing her away.”
“Then what the hell am I supposed to do?”
“First,” he said, circling around to face me, “how long have you been feeling the rage? It has some of the elders concerned. In fact, you had everyone on edge back there.”
I sighed. “I have it under control.”
“Didn’t look like it a few minutes ago. Besides, that’s not what I asked. How long?”
Clenching my teeth, I looked straight into his eyes. “Since I moved here.”
“And sleeping with women doesn’t help?”
“I haven’t slept with anyone since I’ve been here.”
His eyes went wide. “You mean to tell me you haven’t fucked a single woman in this city? How the hell is that possible?”
“Simple. I don’t put my dick in them.”
“That’s what you need though. It might not get rid of the rage, but it will help keep it to a simmer. Is it Tyla you want?” He didn’t know she was my true mate. No one knew, other than me and Tyla.
Averting my gaze, I focused on the street down which she disappeared. My body fought against me, desperate to track her down. “I can’t seem to think of anyone but her. I didn’t realize it was going to be like this.” Micah tried to hide his smile and failed. “What?” I growled.
“Why don’t you come over early in the morning? Tyla will be by to spar with me. If you’re up for it, I think I have a plan.”
Tyla
“I want to try something new with you today,” Micah hollered from across the yard. “Just give me a sec.” He rushed inside, the screen door slamming shut behind him.
I bent down and stretched while I waited on him. Every morning before I went to work, Micah would help me train. I knew how to fight, but he had the skills of a warrior. I’d had the chance to fight alongside him before, and when he offered to help me, I couldn’t refuse. At the time, I’d hoped it’d be Sebastian asking me, but it never happened.
I had no clue what the hell his problem was. He only wanted me now because Colin wanted me too. Typical male bullshit.
Micah rushed out of his house and joined me in the pasture. “You ready, T?”
I looked down at his hand, where he held a piece of black cloth. “What’s that for?”
Grinning wide, he walked behind me and tied it around my eyes. I couldn’t see a thing. “We’re going to spar like this today. One day, you might have to fight using only a few of your senses. I want to see how well you’ll do.”
“Great,” I grumbled. Everything grew quiet, except for the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the trees. I know I looked like an idiot standing there twiddling my thumbs. A minute passed and then another. “When are we going to start?” I asked, lifting my hands in the air. There was no reply.
I was about to rip my blindfold off when my legs were swiped out from underneath me, and I fell hard to the ground, the breath
