fine.” I laughed a little. “What’s wrong, Gena?”
“I’ve just been through so much today, man.”
“You wanna talk about it?”
“Yea, but can you promise not to judge me?”
“I promise,” he said, looking into my eyes.
“My fuck ass baby daddy gave me Trichomoniasis. The doctor gave me medicine to get rid of it, but I just can’t believe him. He just can’t stop himself. I even made him get tested after he cheated, but for some reason all his tests came back negative so he must have cheated again before coming back to me,” I said, allowing tears to roll down my face. He wiped my tears with his finger.
“Aye, stop that.”
“I’m just stupid,” I said, covering my face. He took his shoes off and got in the bed with me.
“If it makes you feel any better Gena, I had pubic lice in high school,” he said, looking at me trying to hold in a laugh.
“Get the fuck out,” I said, laughing and pointing to the door. “I’m serious, a nigga had to shave all his pubic hair off and shit, had me looking like a fuckin naked mole rat; and it was fucking cold outside, dick was on shriv.” We both busted out laughing, and Rayna did too; I guess she heard what he said. Kay looked over at her and started laughing again. “Ya’ll ain’t right. Now the whole world's gonna know,” he wrapped his arms around me tighter and laid his head on my chest.
“I missed you, Kaleb.”
“I missed you too, Yolk head,” he said, looking at the TV. My nurse came in.
“Hello Miss Housto-” She stopped speaking when she saw Kaleb. “What are you doing here with her?” she asked angrily.
“See, I don’t even have time for this kinda shit,” I said under my breath.
“Can you just do your job and leave? Since when did I ever have to explain anything to you?”
“Since you was fucking me yesterday,” she said, looking satisfied. I laughed out, loud and she seemed a little bothered by the fact that I wasn’t mad.
“Girl, you better get up out of here before you lose ya life. Telling my damn business. I’ve murked niggas for less,” Kay said, never looking the slightest bit stressed or upset about the situation. He continued to watch TV.
I called the head of nursing requesting a new nurse. I didn’t give her a bad rep or anything, I just wanted a new one. Twenty minutes later, my new nurse walked in and introduced herself.
“Hello, I’m Kelly and I’ll be your nurse. I talked to both of your doctors’ and discharge is set for the two of you tomorrow.
“Yessss,” we both cheered. It was cut short when Ace walked through the door.
Rayna
Ace walked in the door with some bags in his hand and his mama behind him. When he saw Kay, I could see the rage in his eyes.
“Ma, take Ahleya out for a second,” he said, walking towards Gena’s bed where Kay was looking unbothered. “Why the fuck are you here?” he asked Kay.
“Nigga, is this yo pussy?” Kay shot back.
“Fuck all that, nigga; you know how we gets down,” Ace said with a straight face
“What, you gone shoot me now?” Kay challenged.
“Nah, that ain’t even my cup of tea, nigga; I’ll mop the floor with yo ass,” Ace said, getting closer to Kay.
“Ace, baby please calm down. We’re in a hospital,” I commented. He gave me a death glare.
“Does it look like I give a shit?” he said, focusing back on Kay.
He had never talked to me like that, so I know he was angry, I also knew that it was my cue to shut the fuck up. I looked up to see Kay getting out of the bed.
“Let me get out of here Gena, before I have to kill this nigga.”
“That’ll never happen, homeboy.” Kay kissed Gena on the forehead and said bye to Rayna, and walked out of the room. Ace sat down, rubbing his hand over his face before he started to speak.
“Gena, I know Slick has hurt you and you have every right to move on, but just not with THAT nigga,”
“Why not, Ace? Why are ya’ll trying to control my life?” Gena said, her voice laced
