Threading his fingers through her hair, Cole looked out across the lake and sighed.
    “You are everything I thought you would be, and more. I don’t want to leave this place.” Cole whispered, his strong arms wrapped around her.
    She didn’t want to go back to the crowd. She just wanted to pretend that they were the only ones who existed in the world.
    “Then let’s just sit here for a few moments.” She reasoned, snuggling into him, letting his bare skin warm her.
    They laid there until the sun went down, clinging to one another, the night still young when they finally did stand up and fold the blanket up, putting everything in his picnic basket and carrying it back to the party.
    When they got back it was like they had never left. Groups of people were still standing around, the strings of lights illuminating the back deck and the security light providing enough light for the rest of the group while a small fire went on burning in the fire pit.
    Country music blared and she looked around. With Cole’s arm around her she felt more confident, comfortable in the group of people. Like she fit in.
    “I’m really glad you came, Evie .” Cole whispered as he kissed her temple.
    She was glad too.
