each other.
It's hard to believe that my life had taken this remarkable turn, I'd gone from
almost total despair to being the happiest I'd ever been in my life it's almost
scary, like waiting for the other shoe to drop or something, but somehow I knew
Colton would be there to pick it up if that should happen and that was the most
amazing thing of all.

        I held
her hand as Stacy started on her back; my baby is just a little bit squeamish when
it comes to needles, something she hadn't shared with me until lately. When I'd
asked her how she’d planned on getting tattooed if that was the case she'd said
it was something she really really wanted and she'd planned to just take
something which I had to inform her would've been a bad idea.

I kept up a running commentary the whole time, the wings were
going to be the color of her fuck awesome indigo eyes with black and silver
tips, I'm not sure but I think we were working on the bottom half of just one
of them today and working in quarter increments over the next few weeks. Shit
took a while because Stacy was very particular about her skills so we were
there for a minute.
I took her home and put her to bed after because she was a little
fussy, she complained that her skin felt hot itchy and tight so I gave her
something for the pain. She tossed and turned all night so I ended up pulling
her onto my chest for the rest of it.
The next morning she was back to normal if a little sore so I took
it easy on her as she rode me to climax.

        Things
were pretty much back to normal; my guys were cruising along and I was learning
to live with what I'd had to do. Business was jumping and that fuck Grimaldi
kept me on my toes seems he really took a shine to my girl because the amount
of work he kept sending my way was unprecedented. The only speck on my
otherwise perfect fucking existence was the asshole Rossettis, James had
decided to play hardball and was trying to hit back at my family's business which
was a joke, it's like a sardine going up against a shark, shit just didn't make
any damn sense.
The phone calls had stopped but he'd embarked on a smear campaign
while I'd been away which my PR people and my lawyers were only too excited
about. The stupid fuck probably never heard of a defamation suit.

    "Morning Ms.
Katarina."
    "Cyrus you're here."
I heard her jabbering away from my office where I've been playing
catch-up on some paperwork; I found myself smiling as I listened in on their
banter, before I could climb out from behind my desk to go greet the old guy
she was already leading him out to the shop talking a mile a minute. It made my
heart feel good to know that she felt confident enough to do that shit. Just a
few short weeks ago she would've never been that bold.
I took an extra five to finish up some stuff before following
after them but was waylaid once again by the arrival of her father.
    "Chief Sloan!"
    “Colton, you got a minute?"
"Sure." I hadn't really seen or spoken to the chief since
I'd told him I was keeping her, his daughter was the only reason he could have
for searching me out and we'd already had that conversation so seeing him
standing in my office was a bit of a surprise.
"What can I do for you sir?"
"Got a call from a friend in Arizona."
I felt my heart pick up speed, I'm a hundred percent sure that we
were in the clear but you never know; how the fuck had I fucked up? I kept my
cool though and showed nothing on my face.
"I don't need details son, but just tell me one thing, is my
daughter safe?"
I didn't answer him, just looked into his eyes; if it had been my
life alone on the line I wouldn't have thought twice about giving him
something, but there was no way I was hanging my guys out to dry.
"I see, alright son, you hold fast to your secrets just make
sure she's happy she deserves it."
"As long as I've got her she's golden."
He nodded his head and went back out the
