tense smile.
“Is everything okay? You seem a little stressed from that phone call.”
“Everything’s fine, in fact, it’s more than fine. Why don’t you get up, put on a sexy bikini and we’ll relax at the pool this morning. I’ll order breakfast.”
Jason waited until Stephanie was in the shower before he picked up his phone again. He pressed his auto dial button, which was a direct line to Sam, his head of security at The Gates.
“Sam, it’s Jason. Listen, you remember Jessica? Yeah, well she may make an appearance here this weekend. She is not to enter The Gates; I don’t care what her story is, understood?” Jason hung up and ordered breakfast to be delivered to their private pool.
He smiled and instantly relaxed as he heard the muffled sound of Stephanie singing in the shower. Her off beat tune mingled with the running water in the master bathroom. Closing his eyes, he imagined the spray of water flowing over her full breasts and forming a thin river to the folds of her shaven sex.
Facing the windows to the private lagoon he swore that nothing and no one would spoil these precious few days he had with Stephanie. After Jessica, he swore he would never give his heart away again. He could make an exception for Stephanie if only she would come clean with her damn secret. The secret he’d suspected when they met. The secret he confirmed shortly after their Miami night – she wasn’t married.
Chapter 4
Stepping down to their pool patio, Stephanie looked around in amazement. Paradise, she thought. A lush garden of tropical flowers and foliage outlined the perimeter of the private lagoon. The freeform pool was an oasis of stone and rock with crystal clear water that sparkled in the sunlight. The soft splash of water trickled down from the high rock fountain forming a curtain over a hidden grotto on the far side of the pool. Jason sat on one of the cushioned lounge chairs with a cup of coffee and his newspaper. Even through his dark sunglasses Stephanie knew his eyes were upon her from the moment she walked out in her black string bikini and high-heeled black strappy sandals.
He smiled as she approached, dark eyes looking up at her through his sunglasses. “There’s breakfast in the cabana; come I’ll fix you a cup of coffee.”
“No, you sit, I’ll help myself,” she said and kissed him lightly on his mouth. Stephanie licked her lips. “Yum, you’ve been eating pineapple, my favorite.” Stephanie followed the sounds of soft classical music to the open cabana and was amazed by the luxurious little space. Refreshing cool air hit her face as she looked around. On one side there was a plush sofa with a mounted flat screen television. The opposite wall contained a small kitchen. A beautiful platter of cut fresh fruit was set out on the counter along with a plate of pastries. Two carafes of coffee and a refrigerator stocked with drinks completed the spread.
Stephanie filled her plate with fruit and pastries and returned to the sunny patio. She took a seat in the lounge chair next to Jason. He eyed her full dish and laughed.
“What? I need to sample each one,” she said as she swatted him.
“I trust you’ve enjoyed your stay at The Gates so far?” Jason asked.
Stephanie held one finger up to her mouth as she chewed and swallowed a juicy piece of pineapple. “This place is incredible; I can’t believe this is here right on The Strip. I’ve been to Vegas many times and have never heard of this place. How the heck did you ever find it?”
Jason paused. “This is one of my properties, my pride and joy actually. I designed it to achieve the ultimate in luxury, privacy and convenience. There are just three villas here, all with private entrances. The Gates is known in small elite circles for its discretion and is not widely known to the general public. It’s not advertised. Most of the guests are from the entertainment world, actors, and musicians. There’s also a group of
