about that.  I mean; it’s great that you were adopted and have a lovely family, by th e sounds of it.  But sad too that you weren’t brought up by your natural family.”
Jason reached over and took hold of her hand.  “That’s ok.  I see what you mean.  Linda and Mike are my parents ; I call the m mum and dad.  I barely remember my real mother and don’t remember my real father at all.”
    “Was it tough?”
“My parents died in a car accident.  I don’t remember much.  I just remember staying with a succession of women that I called Auntie for a few months.  Then one day I met mum and dad, and they asked me if I wanted to go and live with them.  I’ve had a pretty normal life apart from that.”  He smiled again.   “Here we are.” He said as he pulled off of the road and drove down into a subterranean car park.
“You live in this apartment building?” She asked impressed.
    “Yep.”
“Man, I need to get promoted.”
Jason laughed, “Perhaps you could have a word with your boss.”  He raised his eyebrows at her.
    “Maybe I will.”
Jason carefully parked the car in his parking space, and they both climbed out.
“How long have you lived here?” She asked.
“U m… about a year now.”  He replied as he opened the boot and lifted the four shopping bags out.
“Wow, what are you going to cook with all that?”
“You’ll see.” He nodded to the boot, which she closed for him and then followed him to the lifts.
“For future reference; you need to take the lift on the left not right, or you’ll end up in the wrong wing of the building.”
“Oh, future reference ?  I’ll be invited again then?”
“Could well be.”  He winked.  Man he was cute.
The lift opened and out stepped a woman and her child.  They waited to let them pass and then stepped in.   As the doors closed, Jackie started to feel a little nervous.  This was it – the moment she’d been waiting for was almost upon her.  She straightened her skirt and smoothed down her blouse.  Jason saw her, and she cursed inwardly.  Jackie suddenly felt the desire ebb and wondered if she should make her excuses and leave, when Jason smiled at her.  How did he manage to do that?  With just one gesture, he had allayed her fears , and she knew that there was nowhere in the world she’d rather be, right now, than with him.
They stepped out of the lift and together they walked down the hallway.  Jason’s apartment was at the very end.
“I was very lucky to get this apartment.  The ones in the corners have larger balconies that wrap around the corner.  It’s so nice on a hot summer night just to throw open the patio doors.”  He sighed. “You’ve got to experience it Jackie.”
She smiled back at him as he put the key into the lock.
“And yes, that was an invitation.”
Wow, she thought as he opened the door and they both stepped into the apartment.  Is he suggesting he’d like more than just sex?  Is he hinting at a relationship? She chided herself; N ow slow down Jackie; don’t read more into this than there is.
The apartment was large, with the main living area open-plan.
Jason quickly pointed at the doors.  “My room with en - suite bathroom.  Guest room, guest bathroom.” He sp u n around.   “Study.  And the rest you can see.”  He headed off into the kitchen.  “Pull up a stool.”
Jackie walked past the beautiful marble dining table and sat up at the breakfast bar as Jason unpacked the shopping bags.
“Now, I know I said I can cook, but please realise that I am no gourmet chef.” He laughed.  “Tonight, for your culinary delight, I will be making Spaghetti Bolognese!”  He opened his arms out wide, to showcase the ingredients that he’d placed on the countertop.
Jackie couldn’t help laughing.  “It sounds perfect.”
“Good. Now I have red wine to drink with the meal, and a white to have now.” He frowned, “Except that it’s warm.”
    “Put it in the
