felt for any shifter, or if the magnificent leopard in front of him was special.
Lyndon damned his lack of knowledge about even his own kind of shifters. He wished he knew what to do—listen to that driving instinct to mate, or listen to the human in him who was telling him to use the utmost caution here.
Then the leopard did the one thing that Lyndon couldn’t resist, not in his cougar form and probably, he thought, not in his human form either. That gorgeous spotted cat narrowed his eyes and growled low and deep. Not a threat, exactly. To Lyndon’s cougar it sounded like a promise of a reward, and as the leopard whirled around and ran, shooting Lyndon a smouldering glance once it was on the move—that was all the encouragement Lyndon needed, especially when the scent of the shifter’s arousal was so strong Lyndon was saturated in it. His growl much rougher and full of a vow in return to the leopard’s, Lyndon shot out from the bushes to catch his prey.
Chapter Three
It wasn’t fear that propelled Levi away from the cougar, but the potential for his fantasy coming to life. Levi’s head was swirling. There were so many thoughts, not the first of which was the fact there were other breeds of shifters. He wondered at his body’s instantaneous reaction to the other male, the way an inferno erupted inside him. Levi had never found himself stimulated in this form, not sexually anyway. It was kind of weird and hot at the same time.
And he was throbbing, oh my God, his cock and ass and every nerve ending in his body pulsed, amplifying the force of his need. It threatened to consume him and bring him to the sum total of his base needs, all animal and instinct and clawing, biting, a violent mating.
Levi angled to the west, breaking through the foliage and creating a new path. He wasn’t completely lost to his lust and didn’t want to lead someone who was possibly a threat closer to his family. He didn’t know how this would play out, but he could smell the arousal of an unfamiliar male as surely as he could scent his own, so he was fairly certain the trespasser wasn’t planning on killing him. And hopefully, we’ll shift…
The thought alone caused Levi a misstep, and the cougar grew nearer, so much so that Levi felt his hot, moist breath ruffle over his fur. A stinging nip to his tail sent Levi into high gear even as it made his dick weep with his anticipation. The zing of pain from that bite shot up his spine to the tip of his nose in record time and Levi snarled as he whipped his tail.
The cougar’s answering swipe of claws, his deep rumbling growl, was all the warning Levi got before a heavy weight slammed into him, onto him. Sharp teeth pierced his nape, enough to sting but not rend, and Levi went down, hard, pinned beneath the cougar.
The rumbling sound his attacker made shot through Levi, starting at his neck and sending his heart into overdrive. He mewled his acquiescence, overcome by scent and touch, the cougar’s breath wafting around his head and filling his lungs. A shudder racked the form on top of him, then the body shifted, becoming longer, harder, as an insistent bulge jabbed at his back.
“Shift,” the man growled in a voice as rough as his cat’s. He gripped Levi’s head, burying fingers in his fur and tightening his fist. “Now!”
Levi was astounded and intimidated by the speed of the stranger’s transformation. He hesitated and considered throwing him and running, but the possibility of having an experience he’d so desired was an irresistible lure. Levi’s mewl twisted into a pain-filled groan as he heaved and shifted, his body aching as the man lifted his weight slightly, holding himself up on one arm. He never once let go of Levi’s hair, and when Levi blinked away the burning in his eyes and tried to turn and look aside, his captor rumbled again and bit the same place he’d already marked.
Levi bucked and arched his back; he flailed his arms, looking for
