else.”
“I know. I know. I understand how busy you are. I just
wanted to talk to you.”
“And I’m glad you called. I was thinking about you.”
    “Really?”
She sounded so pleased. How couldn’t she know how much she
meant to him? He’d gone from zero to sixty in only a matter of days. He
wondered, and not for the first time, what she thought of him.
He was older than she, with a boring job and no free time to
speak of. She was a liberal while he was conservative. Hell, she drew cute
cartoons for a living. What does she even see in me?
“I think about you all the time,” he heard himself say.
“Oh. I want to hug you so bad right now.”
He chuckled, the sound low and somehow rough. “Tell me about
it.”
“All passengers for Philadelphia are invited to board at
Gate 32!”
Shit! “They’re calling my flight, baby.”
“Damn it. Okay, well, have a safe flight, Matt. Talk to you
tomorrow?”
“Thanks hon, and yes, I’ll email you as soon as I can.” He
stood up and grabbed his laptop case with his free hand. Standing there, about
to board yet another plane to spend yet another night in a cold hotel room, he
felt loneliness threaten to overwhelm him.
“I’m going to dream of you and me.”
He found himself smiling at her announcement. “Dream for the
two of us, baby. I have to go. I…I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
    “Bye, Matt.”
“Bye.” He closed his phone and felt his fingers squeeze
around it. He was seriously tired of this life. That’s probably why, even as
the stewardess asked for all electronic devices to be turned off, he sent a
text that would change his very future.
When he turned his phone off, he was elated and scared at
the same time. It was time to take life by the horns.
    He wanted more for himself.
Starting with the woman in his dreams…

As soon as they landed in Philadelphia, he turned his
BlackBerry on and waited for that red light to start flashing. Ignoring the
work emails that started pouring in, he instead opened his text messages and
quickly opened the one he’d received from Jill.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes! Even if it’s just one day and one
night, I’ll take that over not being with you. I can’t wait. Matt…it’s going to
be a weekend to remember. Kiss.
A grin formed on his lips, a grin that remained in place
even when the taxi that should have been waiting for him didn’t turn up. Flying
to L.A. would screw up his work schedule, but he didn’t care.
He was going to finally feel her. Kiss her. Taste her. Fuck
her.
    He couldn’t wait!

Chapter Three

Matt was still grinning by the time he landed in LAX at the
end of the week, having flown in from his last appointment. He embraced the
city’s heat by removing his suit jacket and ditching his tie before he’d even
stepped outside.
Now standing in the hotel elevator with his shirtsleeves
rolled up, he felt his cock twitch in his pants and shook his head ruefully.
He’d been half hard since he’d woken up that morning. He’d
had to hide his erection on the plane by covering his lap with an open newspaper.
But now that he was actually here, that he knew Jill would be joining him in a
matter of hours, he couldn’t control himself.
Maybe he should jerk himself off in the shower before she
arrived? Yeah, that was a good idea. He didn’t want to appear too eager and
ruin it all by coming early. He stepped into the hotel suite he’d booked and
went to get himself ready for the weekend of his life.

Three hours later Matt’s smile had dimmed.
He’d had time to take a shower, change clothes, read the
news online. He’d had so much time he didn’t know what else to do.
He paced back and forth, the suite suddenly feeling too
cramped. It might boast two rooms and a huge bathroom but it was too small
right now. Even his skin felt too tight, as if his body were going to erupt if
he only moved wrong.
    She was late.
Maybe he’d done all this for nothing and she wouldn’t turn
up.
