throat begin to try to let out another shriek, but was stopped by the adrenalin coursing through my veins. The world began to spin faster and faster, and for a moment everything grew silent. There was a sudden, shattering ring in my ears like a shot gun blast, then a bright flash of white before my eyes, then everything went black.
“Izzy, Izzy, Izzy,” I repeated in my mind, feeling myself become fade.
I suddenly felt a cold smack against my face and was raised into consciousness, I snapped back into reality, stars and flickers before my eyes. I came to in a daze, the entire new world spinning around me like a carousel. I eased my eyes open and stared into the bleak, grey sky. I felt the softness of grass beneath my naked, filthy, body and grasped at the earth trying to stable myself from falling. I blinked hard and squinted, trying desperately to work up the strength to lift myself from the ground. I inhaled deeply and took in the thick, foreign, air. My lungs felt as if they were going implode with its heaviness. The air tasted almost sweet, like fermented lilacs; a tender putridness that hung in the air like a fog. The ringing in my ears began to cease and I could barely make out the sound of muffled screams in the distance: this had not all been a bad dream, this was real.
“No,” I muttered in a pathetic, breathless cry into the soft grass.
I felt myself become faint again, and felt darkness closing in on me when I was suddenly lifted to my feet. I felt my legs begin to tremble beneath me and I fell hard to my knees and felt my head drop to my chest. I opened my eyes as I felt the touch of cold leather against the skin of my pale face, the guard took my face in his hands, his fingers wrapping around my chin. A cold shudder went through my body as I lifted my head and met his gaze.
His eyes were an icy grey, as if they were painted to match the dim sky above him. I was knelt before him and felt minuscule in his presence, my quivering head coming up to only his waist. He slowly brought up his massive and hands and aligned them with my head, taking a moments pause before moving them to my face. Holding my head up he examined my every feature with great thought, and with a nod of his head motioned for the other guard to come towards us. He rushed over, rifle in his hands and looked into my eyes for what seemed to be a century.
“Alamun anamin?” The guard with his hands on my face snapped to the other in a questioning tone, a language I’ve never heard before.

“Anamin,” The other guard nodded beneath his leather mask, nodding almost in agreement with his seemingly superior.
They nodded at each other, with what seemed to be an approving grin. He loosened his grip from my jaw and pointed a long finger at me and then the ground.
“ASTAS!” He shouted as I tried to look up at him, afraid to make eye contact. He shoved my shoulder with his rifle and I let my eyes followed his pointed finger to the ground.
I felt my knees digging deeper into the grass, almost trying to disappear into myself in fear. I vaguely hear the guards muttering to one another as the ringing in my ears returned. A rush of panic shot through my body and I tried to balance myself without removing my shaking hands from the back of my skull. I could feel my hair clumped with mud and cold against my bare neck. I breathed in and out, trying to balance myself on the cold grass, my body heavy, and waiting nothing more than to pass out.
“Please don’t kill me,” I thought silently to myself.
“Please just let me get back to Izzy.”
The two guards shuffled off a few feet away from me and began to talk in the beautiful language. Their voices inflected with bellows and questions, their every body movement was accentuated by their leather-clad skin, their bodies were muscular and lean, unlike any man I had ever seen. They looked over at me, naked and helpless, seeming to motion with their eyes and grinning at one another in approval.
