was surrounded by stone walls, a heavy wooden door, and violent neon purple lights hanging flashing on and off overhead. I felt the back of my skull and lifted my hand to find dried blood and mud underneath my unpainted nails.
“Motherfuckers…” I muttered as the pain radiates through my cranium.
The flickering of the lights gave me an almost instant migraine. Through the heavy wooden door, I suddenly heard the jovial sound of foreign laughter, and I raced underneath the heavy covers, trying to hide my still naked and dirty body from whatever creatures existed beyond my door. I closed my eyes and tried to make out what it was they were saying, but the language they spoke sounded ancient, almost Aramaic or Latin. They laughed in a free and jovial manner which almost put me at ease for a second.
The sounds of heavy boots outside my door and made me peek from under my covers in curiosity. But when I saw a set of giant feet from beneath the bottom of the door, I recoiled in terror as I held my hand against my mouth to keep from letting out an audible whimper. I shoved my face back into the pillow as I heard the heavy wooden door creak open. The footsteps stomped over the stone floor with purpose; I knew that walk, it was him – my guard.
“Una loste mias,” He whispered, as I felt the blankets get pulled over me, almost like I was being tucked in.
All I wanted to do was open my eyes and see what he looked like, but I didn’t dare steal a glance. I felt his massive hands caress the curves of my body over the blanket, slow and deliberate, like his walk.
“Una loste mias,” He whispered yet again, and I felt his hand gently caress my hair.
I felt his heavy boots move across my room and exit through the door when it finally felt like I could breathe again. My chest heaved up and down and my heart palpitated in fear. Where am I? Who were they? What happened? All of these questions raced through my pained mind until I found myself drifting off to sleep in agony. I heard more jovial laughter through the door and briefly contemplate trying to run out of the room all together.
    Eva.
I pulled my knees to my chest and begin to whimper silently at the loss of my best friend. I see her moving across the sand inside of my mind, so close, but moving forever further away.
        I love you Eva.

Chapter 4
“IZZY, IZZY!!!!,” I screamed through the madness of the crowd.
“IZZY!!,” I wailed, my throat dry and hoarse against the foreign, cold, air.
I saw her getting dragged off by the thick locks of her hair. My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach as I am overcome with a feeling of dread. The tears streamed down my face effortlessly as I suddenly feel my feet lifted off the ground and the feeling of cold, sleek, leather engulfed my arms. I looked up and saw the two of these nameless, masked “things” seem to pick me up off my feet without effort.
“NO, NO, PLEASE, NO!” I pleaded, fighting back against them, their grip so tight it felt as if they were going to shatter my arm like glass.
I felt the tips of my toes glaze through the mud as I am dragged from the crowd by the guards. The shrieks of the crowd growing quieter in the distance with their every massive step. The stomped off up a hill and dragged me beyond a small patch of trees. I was almost certain this is where I was to meet my fate. I looked up and saw that the crowd had become just so distant that I could barely make out who was running where. They were being herded like cattle into lines by the leather-clad guards, their naked bodies shaking and terrified under the cold, grey sky of this new land.
“Noooo,” I muttered in a muffled, belated cry.
The crowd of naked passengers grew smaller, and smaller into the distance and then disappeared beyond the trees and brush. I felt my eye lids begin to flutter and roll back into my skull in shock. The entire world around me began to spin, my mind became overwhelmed with panic. I felt my
