hotel -
thirty seven floors up - the elevator stopped and opened. We didn’t step from
the elevator to a hallway. No. We stepped from the elevator into a massive
suite.
My mouth fell open as Jonathan
stepped from the elevator. He turned and smiled, appreciating my shock. The
dominant billionaire still had so many surprises up his sleeve. It was breathtaking.
Literally breathtaking. The entire floor or room or whatever was completely
open. Like a large house. The only rooms that appeared to be separated off were
the bathroom and bedrooms.
“Two bedrooms,” Jonathan said.
“Just in case. But we won’t need it, will we?”
I shook my head as I stepped from
the elevator. “This is... I’m amazed.”
“Of course you are,” Jonathan said.
“Murderous yet still innocent. How can I not fall in love with you?”
The question made me shiver.
Jonathan took my hand and guided me
to the couch. He sat me down and kissed me.
“I need to make a brief call. Time
is still moving forward, Isabella Grace. And since we are part of time, we are
moving forward too. Do you understand that?”
“Yes,” I replied.
Jonathan turned and pulled a cell
phone from his jacket. As he dialed a number, I watched as he placed the gun he
used to kill Kellen with on the kitchen counter. Then he was gone. Something so
subtle was packed with trust. Jonathan trusted me enough to be in the same room
with the gun. I would never hurt him or myself and he knew that. He believed in
that.
I couldn’t sit for long. My nerves
were shaking and my eyes wanted to close. It was a strange feeling, so I stood
up to walk it off. Jonathan had gotten us this far already. I tried to think
about the other hotel. What the room must have looked like by then. Two bodies.
One stabbed. One shot. Everything revolving around billionaire Jonathan Black.
I could almost hear it already as a news report.
The room had windows separated
perfectly to give the illusion that the top floor was just another set of
rooms. I stood at one of the windows and stared out to the quieter city below.
It had an eerie feel to it. Kind of like the calm before a big storm. I didn’t
want to think of everything that had taken me to that point, but I couldn’t help
it. I really was just so innocent then, wasn’t I? Begging for the dominating
touch of Jonathan Black. Receiving that and so much more.
I took a deep breath, feeling my
heart calming. I was going to need to remain calm, no matter what. We were
still very close to the scene of the murders. They would certainly try to track
us down. Being in the massive hotel room was temporary. I knew that the second
I saw the hotel. Everything would be temporary for now, except the love and
lust between Jonathan Black and myself.
In the distance I heard the sound
of a helicopter. The propellers battling against the sky. I looked left to
right and when I saw it pop up from another building, I let out a small cry and
jumped back. I pulled the curtains shut and swallowed. My heart raced once
again and my knees buckled.
Was it a helicopter looking for us?
Were we caught?
I hadn’t thought about it... how
much power authorities could have and use against us.
I took a step back, then another,
and felt something touch me.
I screamed and jumped.
“Isabella Grace,” Jonathan’s voice
said.
I turned and fell into his chest.
The sound of the helicopter grew
louder and I hugged Jonathan tighter. I wanted him to save me from everything
that had happened. I didn’t know why but it started to become the scariest
moment of my life. To have the feeling of killing Katherine settling in and now
having to run and run...
“It’s okay,” Jonathan said.
“Listen.”
The helicopter kept going. The
sound faded away. In a matter of seconds it was gone.
“You can’t fear it,” Jonathan said.
“It’ll... it’ll get you, Isabella. Don’t let it ruin you.”
“I need you,” I whispered.
“Jonathan, I need you.”
“I’m
