and
read? Just leave me alone, I’ve had enough of your mood swings for today!” I
start to walk around him but he turns and grabs my bag.
“Wait, I didn’t mean to upset you. Where are you going?”
Is this guy a psycho or what? “Not that it’s any of your business, but
I’m going home and don’t even think about following me,” I snapped!
I was so freaked out right now I just wanted to be by myself. Could
this day be any weirder? He let go of my backpack and went back to his table.
He looked at me one more time with what looked to be concern and hate in his
eyes before I walked away. I went out the door and stood at the top of the
steps scanning my surroundings for that guy from inside. I didn’t see him. I
ran down the steps, crossed the street, and ran the whole way home. I wasn’t
waiting for anyone.
Chapter Four
‘His’ POV
I watched as she ran off to make sure he wasn’t following her. I knew
he wouldn’t, knowing I was right there. I went to the parking lot and found his
SUV with him leaning on it.
“Who do you think you are twerp?” He yells at me.
“I’m the one who just put you in your place. You are in violation of
the council ordinances. It is my duty as keeper of this district to stop you.
Leave that girl alone!”
He smiles big and I can hear his thoughts, “You think you can stop us?
You know why we want her, and you know that we will get her.”I knew who he
worked for. He had been tracking her for days and I had just caught up to him.
“Our people know your plans. We aren’t letting you get away with it.” I wasn’t
going to send him my thoughts. That would be too dangerous.
“You think that your measly little pack can defeat us? Don’t make me
laugh. I am going to get that girl, and then I’ll make you watch as I turn her
to our side.” He was trying to get a reaction out of me and it was working.
“I won’t warn you again. Next time, I will hurt you! Don’t push me.” I
walked away.
The Blood Borne Shifters had been our rivals for centuries. The fact
that this maggot had gotten past our defenses made me worry about our security.
The Knight Wolves Pack had been protecting this area for as long as I could
remember. The girl didn’t know it, but she had lycan blood in her. That’s why
they wanted her. They wanted to use her against us.
“Hey Twerp, I didn’t catch your name.” He was toying with me now.
“The name is Damian. Would you like to give me yours so I can carve it
on your tombstone?” I could play games too.
“Name’s Bane and I doubt you’ll be forgetting it anytime soon.” And
with that, he got in his SUV and drove away.
Sara’s POV
Aunt Lynn was anxiously waiting by the phone when I walked through the
door.
“Where have you been? I have been worried sick about you. And if you
think you’re getting off the hook for that stunt this morning, you’re sadly
mistaken young lady!”
I ran up to Aunt Lynn and gave her a big hug. I might not have wanted
to hear everything she was going to say, but I was just glad to be home right
now.
“Don’t think that sucking up is going to get you off the hook either.
You’re grounded for two weeks.”
I could live with that, “Alright.”
“Don’t argue with…wait, did you just agree on a punishment? Are you
feeling alright? No fever.” She says as she feels my forehead.
Aunt Lynn wouldn’t think to ask me what happened and I really didn’t
want to talk about it. I just wanted to eat dinner and go to bed.
“Is dinner ready? I’m starving.”
Aunt Lynn just looked at me. “Dinner’s on the table. When you’re done,
go straight to bed.” I wasn’t going to argue. I cleaned my plate, brushed my teeth,
and went straight to bed.
As I lay in bed that night, I thought of the boy with the deep eyes. He
was so rude to me, but that wasn’t what I was thinking about. I kept thinking
about him catching me outside the school, how he looked at me when he thought
that guy may have hurt
