absolutely normal and a little excited. Then she saw him…the love of her life.
Declan was the hottest guy she had ever laid eyes on. He was tall, lean and muscular, and had the most perfect face and dreamy hazel eyes in the entire universe. His wide smile revealed straight teeth that were stunningly perfect and white. His dark Chesnutt hair fell almost in his eyes but he had it swept across his forehead effortlessly. He was a pretty boy, attractive, cute, and sexy without even trying. He was every girl’s fantasy. A guy that could melt any girl’s heart with one look, Declan was the full package and had been hers at one time.
And then her h eart dropped in her chest, for hanging on his arm was a girl, who was laughing with him and carrying a bowl of chips. He was looking down at her smiling as they both descended the stairs together. The floor caved under her feet and her heart burst with jealousy and despair. Declan had moved on! Already? Willow’s eyes instantly swam with tears, her heart breaking as she stood there watching them. She was standing there unable to breath and breaking inside and nobody noticed. Nobody cared.
Declan reac hed the bottom of the stairs, took the chips from the girl, and set them down on a long table with other snacks and drinks. Finley rushed up to him, put his arm around his shoulders and said something to him. Declan’s head shot up and his eyes locked on her. Even from where she stood across the room, Declan’s powerful eyes burned into hers. His mouth fell open in shock as Willow stood there feeling the weight of the room collapsing around her, her chest was slowly heaving with sobs and her stomach was sickened with nausea.
And that was when she felt it. Her brain went fuzzy as a pressure descended upon her head. The walls of the room started moving, waving back and forth. Willow’s vision grew cloudy, but it wasn’t with tears anymore. Something was happening to her! Oh wow! Brilliant colors suddenly burst into her vision. The room dissolved away right in front of her. Blues, reds, yellows, greens, flashes of colors passed before her eyes. Dozens of twinkling lights sparkled all around her like tiny stars and she felt desperately, urgently, painstakingly happy. She stood marveling, unable to help herself. She couldn’t remember a time where she felt this good! She wanted to run and play, laugh and catch the pretty stars that danced around her.
But wait. Shouldn’t she be sad about something? Not. At. All! Willow shook her head and smiled as the stars were coming closer and closer to her. They were vibrating and pulsing light. In one word they were gorgeous.
Willow reached out to grab them, laughing when they moved just out of reach. They were playing with her. She laughed and started running, trying to catch the stars. She was all by herself in a galaxy of beautiful lights and colors and she felt so freaking good! She wanted this feeling to last forever! She felt weightlessness and worry-free. She hadn’t a care in the world. She twirled in a circle and then chased after a particularly large star. It was right there in front of her! Yet every time she reached for it, it moved.
“Wait, pretty star,” Willow cooed at it. The star stopped at her voice , vibrating faster as it hovered in front of her. “Come here!” She reached out again but the star moved away. Willow laughed and took off after it.
But then she ran into a solid wall. Smack! The star was gone. She turned around and tried running the opposite way and then whack! She bumped into something else. She tried focusing, concentrating on her surroundings. Where was she?
The lights were fading! And fast! No! The stars rapidly lost their luster and became dull and dark right before her eyes. What was happening? The colors were turning to brown, gray, and then black. Her head spun as she called out to the stars to light her way, trying to grab them and keep them from going out. But it was no use! Her eyes couldn’t
