up and down her back. He couldn’t keep her at the edge of Oblivion for the entirety of her punishment, but he could ease her discomfort to a certain degree with short lapses into the nothingness.
Tamping down on his raging erection, he took several more deep breaths. He laid his hand on her chest and felt her heart beat slow to a sedate rhythm. “That’s it, Tesra. Just relax.”
Time ticked by, and he couldn’t have cared less if he missed a star going super-nova. The sand was appeased for a while. The music turned to a quiet hush of a lullaby.
He brushed his fingers over her head. A small smile played at the corners of his lips. She had managed to fall asleep.
Good, because once your punishment is over, it’s unlikely you’ll sleep for a stellar week.
Chapter Two
Just when you thought you’d heard everything, think again.
Within three days of being imprisoned in her quarters, Shar’ia came to the conclusion she was being punished. She even gave the Navorains credit for coming up with such a novel way of teaching her a lesson. Just the thought of transporting relics or anything that could remotely be considered illegal turned her stomach. The mere contemplation of going through what she’d suffered the first day had her vowing she’d never so much as consider going back to her profession. That’s how powerful the lust had been.
Whatever they’d done to her had nearly turned her into a certifiable lunatic. She’d tried to get herself off manually, but no luck. For some foreign reason, she couldn’t reach an orgasm. She’d finally given up on that by the end of her first full day. It was a waste of time and only made her want Joseferus more. Truthfully, she could take him on, have Leanderus fuck her hard, and still ache for a good fuck.
Yawning, she rolled over and watched the stars fly by the windows of her room. Her emotions toward Joseferus were softening to the point she was hugging her pillow at night, imagining he was holding her in his arms as she fell asleep.
The soft strums of music warned her she was about to have company.
“Good morning,” Joseferus said from the door.
She watched him walk in. Leanderus trailed behind him. “Is it morning?” Though, she was glad they hadn’t given her a clock. She couldn’t fathom how horrible it would have been to hear the tick-tock or realize how few minutes had passed since she’d been brought aboard the Vor Cand .
“Yes, Shar’ia,” Joseferus informed her. “It is.”
Measuring the two men, she narrowed her eyes. What are you up to? Leanderus was smiling whereas the stoic supreme commander of the Vor Cand continued to appear ready to bite her head off. By the Holy Mother of Atlas, she could almost feel his displeasure. She sensed Leanderus wasn’t actually excited. He was feeling something else. Vengeance?
No way. You’re second guessing everything now.
She supposed that came from the two men being her only humanoid contact since she’d started her incarceration. In fact, she’d not even met an android since she’d been escorted to her room. From time to time, the robo-cleaner would slide out of its hidey-hole, and she’d come to think of it as a silent companion in a sick, sad way. She chalked the lack of companionship up to being part and parcel to her punishment.
“Kneel on the floor, Shar’ia,” Joseferus ordered her in a no-nonsense tone. “Place your hands behind your back.”
A tiny spurt of fear raced up her spine, but she shoved the emotion away. It was out of character for either man to cause her true pain. Though, yesterday, she had noted Leanderus becoming more and more distant during his short visits. She supposed that was because he was always ordered around by Joseferus.
Still, the passion they invoked was always soothed away by Joseferus taking her into a dark space. He’d kiss away her tears, stroke her hair, and caress her back. He’d hold her until she fell
