back. It was all for nothing. However, Annabelle wanted Jessica to see her around him. She had to believe that she was carrying his child. This was her way of keeping them apart. She told James that she was coming as a friend. She could tell that he really needed a friend during those difficult times. James was grateful for the company, especially since she was the only one who knew everything.

Chapter 4: Dave

The two brothers tried to avoid each other as much as possible. However, they decided to sell some land and Dave needed his brother’s signature. He stopped by his office and the first thing he noticed was the gorgeous assistant.
“I haven’t seen you before. You must be new!”
For a second, Jessica thought her boss was just making a silly joke pretending he did not know her. When she looked better, her jaw dropped. She had to remind herself to close her mouth. That man looked exactly like the man she loved and yet there was something different about him.
    “You must be his brother.”
    “Dave, nice to meet you!”
“Jessica, nice to meet you too! He is waiting for you in the office.”
As soon as he entered the office, Dave congratulated his brother for choosing such a hot assistant. James felt the blood rushing to his face.
    “Stay away, please!”
“Oh no, see…now that you told me to stay away, suddenly she became forbidden fruit. Now I must have her!”
The business meeting went fast because James wanted Dave out of there as fast as possible. Except for DNA and looks, they had nothing in common and the last thing he wanted was for that man to be around Jessica any minute longer.
Unfortunately, as soon as Dave left James’ office, he went straight to Jessica’s desk. From his office window, James could see her smiling and even blushing. Dave always knew how to charm the skirt off of any woman and this was really scary. His brother was the only rival he could not fight because he was sure that he would lose. Dave was always the winner in everything.
After he left, James went to her desk and asked what they were talking about. She informed him that she accepted to go out on a date with him. His heart broke a little more, but it was not at all unexpected. Since he had no right to tell her what to do with her private life, he did not say a word. There was another reason he did not want them to date. No matter how much he wanted Jess for himself, if they could not be together, he hoped at least to see her happy with some other man. Now he knew for sure that Dave could not make her happy. He would just use her and throw her away like he did with all women.

Chapter 5: Jessica

She knew that Dave was not James, but because they looked so much alike, she could pretend. Being with Dave helped her because she imagined he was the man she loved so much. It was a lie, but it was better than the reality. Ever since Annabelle told her about the pregnancy, she cried every single day. James was her first true love and all she wanted now was to get over him. After spending a few days with Dave, she could see just how different the brothers were. Dave was obviously a selfish man but she did not care. He was using her for sex and to get back at his brother and she was using him to get over James. It was a win-win situation.
One day James saw his brother with another woman and he did not hesitate hitting him right in the face. When Jessica heard about the fight, she was angry. Of course, she did not know the reason for it.
“He was with another woman, Jess. I could not let him do this to you.”
“Really? I had no idea you really cared so much about me…”
“Of course I do! What made you think for a second that I didn’t?”
“Annabelle is pregnant! I am sorry. She should be the one telling you. This is why I have to stay away.”
“She is what? That is impossible.”
“Please don’t be one of those men who won’t take responsibility, James.”
“No, you don’t understand! She can’t be
