wrong, I tell you. Wrong, wrong,
wrong
.â
Cameron and Will laughed at his running commentary as they led him into the tiny cabin they called home. Will had lit the woodstove, so the space was warm and cozy and immaculate, thanks to the hours theyâd spent the night before cleaning in preparation for her dadâs arrival.
Sheâd been a nervous wreck about making everything perfect, working until well past midnight when Will declared that it was as good as it was going to get. Heâd picked her up and carried her to bed over her vociferous objections.
âThis is great, you guys,â Patrick said as he looked around at their home. âI love it.â
Will took Patrickâs bag up the ladder to the loft.
âThatâs your penthouse for the evening,â Cameron said, pointing.
âLooks good to me.â
Cameron went to him and hugged him. âThanks for being such a good sport about everything.â
He returned her embrace. âI have no idea what you were expecting.â
She looked up at him and rolled her eyes dramatically, making him laugh. âAre you hungry?â
âStarving.â
âMolly and Lincoln are coming for dinner.â
âI canât wait to see them,â Patrick said of his Yale University classmate. It had been Lincolnâs idea to hire his old friendâs daughter to build a website for the store, which is what had brought her to Butler in the first place.
âDinner is already in the oven,â Will said of the lasagna theyâd made themselves.
âSmells amazing,â Patrick said.
âHow about a beer?â Will asked.
âIâd never say no to that.â
While they waited for Willâs parents to arrive, they sat on the sofa with beers and the crackers and cheese Cameron put out to hold them over until dinner.
âSo talk to me about the wedding plans,â Patrick said.
Cameron glanced at Will, who gestured for her to have at it. âEverything starts tomorrow afternoon with a rehearsal here followed by the rehearsal dinner at Lincoln and Mollyâs.â
âWhoâs coming to that?â
âThe wedding party and a few friends.â
âTell me again whoâs in the wedding party. I know Lucy is your maid of honor.â
âRight, the others are Emma, Willâs sisters Hannah, Ella and Charley, and Simone is the flower girl.â
âWhat about you?â Patrick asked Will.
âI asked Colton to be my best man since weâre practically marrying sisters,â he said, referring to Lucy, Cameronâs best friend from the city and now Coltonâs fiancée. âMy other five brothers will be groomsmen along with Troy.â
âThatâs a big wedding party,â Patrick said.
âI know,â Cameron said, âbut we couldnât narrow it down, so we decided to have everyone we wanted.â She shrugged. âThis is what happens when you marry into a family of ten kids. Everything is big!â
âTen kids.â Patrick shook his head. âI still canât believe my old college buddy has
ten
kids.â
âNeither can he,â Will said. âThey joke that by the time they figured out what was causing all these kids to arrive, they had ten of them.â
âI can hear him saying that,â Patrick said, chuckling.
âHe also likes to talk about the long, cold winter in Vermont and the lack of things to do,â Cameron added.
âDoes that mean youâre going to have ten kids, too?â Patrick asked.
âOh, hell no!â
âWeâve agreed to stop at eight,â Will said.
âHe lies.â
Patrick cringed at the thought. âI sure hope so.â
âIâve agreed to two, and then weâll see,â Cameron assured her father.
âI can live with that.â Patrick put down his beer and shifted on the sofa to face them. âSo thereâs something I wanted to talk to you
